you're in LA, and considering how spread out that city is, the mileage seems to appropriate for the age of the car. i'm pretty sure they're mostly freeway miles, though, so as long as the owner has been on top of all preventive maintenance issues, i wouldn't worry too much. my 2000 ES has 203k, and aside from having to replace parts that are beginning to wear down, the engine is still running pretty well.
see if you can get the seller to provide you with maintenance records and/or receipts and assuming the car has no performance upgrades, try to haggle the price down a bit more...
