HAHAHA nice. Very true. So I'm interested in this mount. I'm going to be doing some auto x events in the next few months and I feel like I will be ordering one of these up....

The easiest way I can explain it is open your hood on your mazda 2 and push the motor with your hands. The stock mounts are super soft which is not the best choice for performance driving. I am not sure if I would recommend the mount for a commuter car but for any competition I would get the upgraded part.

Any particular reason you wouldn't recommend it for a commuter? I've noticed that when passing on the highway, taking off from red lights and stops signs and especially when reversing, that the engine "slop" from the factory mounts is really noticeable. Are you thinking this would be too far in the opposite direction?
I know on the GTI that I traded out of to get the 2, the poly motor mount insert made a world of difference... even for everyday driving.
While I was under my 2 doing a oil change yesterday, I saw where this mount will go. Pretty easy to install it seems. There is a similar mount available for MINI's and I've been in quite a few that have had this upgrade. It'll slightly amplify the vibration of the motor, but some of the sloppiness felt when shifting will disappear. I think for $75.00 you can't go wrong if you are planning on doing anything involving a track with your 2. For 2's that are strictly driven on the streets, you'd get used to the added vibration.

It just depends on how much vibration is acceptable for someone. Myself I would use one but all of my last cars have been driven hard and I am ok with the tradeoff of the vibrations. We can come up with a good mount which would come in with some vibration and good performance if you guys would buy them.

I'm surprised they only came out with one. Does the mount on the passenger side just dampen or what? I've never had a car with a hydraulic mount (I think that's what it is..) I haven't really looked to see where the mounts are besides the pass. side one and the one this thread is about. I know on my previous Neon every mount was available with a stiffer material. Maybe that was a rare case? Dunno.

I had an idea about an adjustable one. have a small thing coil and have like a screw or bolt and be abele to twist it until the coil shuts and is stiff of give it some give. Who knows? Good weekend project to try and fabricate one.

Just ordered one, so I will report back with NVH and benefits once it gets here and gets installed... But I did Fed-ex ground, so it probably wont be until next week.

Ok, installed!
Installation - piece of cake! It took more time to pull the car up on ramps and get under it than to replace the mount! 2 bolts, that's it....
Now lets talk about NVH (noise vibration harshness): it's definitely rougher and louder - ESPECIALLY below 1600 rpms... There is a hum while idling from the vibration, and it sounds like a ricer exhaust from the vibration on the inside, when starting off... But above 1600, it's totally tolerable. I may be imagining it, but there is a bit more road noise while cruising... The idle hum might be the only thing I can't take.
As for performance, we will see. I have an autox this Sunday, so i will have a good chance to test it out. For the initial test drive, I can definitely feel a difference; none of the movement when disengaging the clutch while downshifting....
However, I havent decided if I'm gonna keep this on the daily driver, or just go back to oem and switch the mount out when going to autox. At least it's super easy! I will just have to see if I can get used to it!

Maybe its just the colors but are the bolt holes in the new piece larger than the holes in the OEM? I'd think that could make it noisier.

Yeah, the holes were a bit larger... I had contemplated trying to fill it with something, but i thought id try it as is first. I dont know why they decided to do that, but yeah the holes definitely are larger. Do you think it was a design fault?
I am getting more used to it; really the only thing that is bothering me is ideling. It kinda sounds like the guy behind me has a subwoofer cranked up.... kind of a bass drone...
Eitherway, its somewhat annoying, so I hope I can do something about it soon...
