How To: Ebay FMIC

So far so good guys. I took the cap off the breather and cleaned up everything that had oil and took the car for a drive and everything is dry. I will be driving it again soon to do some shopping and I will know for sure if it's leaking or not but so far it's good. Cross my fingers lol

So my turbo seems to be fine. No more oil coming out the intake side.it was my mistake after all for capping the valve cover breather. Oops. Lol. Well atleast I can still sell the car and don't have to spend a few hundred bucks.

Finally got my other 90* coupler yesterday and took me about 2 hours to get everything installed. I've got to say it runs a hell of a lot better between 3200-3800rpm. The hot side was a b**** to get together, but the cold side just fell into place it seemed. Gotta relocate my MAF though.

Nice. Relocate the maf ASAP. U will notice the difference. Plus if u have a boost controller,it will also help.I run my car around 8psi and it runs/feels great. I get a slight hesitation but it's very very minor that it's not even noticeable that much.atleast with the maf relocated ,I do not get fuel cut anymore which is great.I have 2 boost controllers.pm me if u are interested.

I noticed driving last night that I'm spiking to 8psi. Never did this before the FMIC install. Anyone have some input on this.

Yea mines went from 5-7 psi to 8-8.5 psi. The front mount helps. Kind of crazy that it spikes up like that but I don't mind it. I want 8psi anyways. I think that 10psi would be hitting danger zone for the msp but I could be wrong.

That's the exact thing I'm experiencing, and assumed that it was normal... I doubt that you and I are the only two with this. I'm comfortable with it being under 9psi, but anything higher than that would keep me on edge. I'm trying to work out a deal on a Unichip right now, which would give me peace of mind under 10psi.

I hear u brother. I wouldn't go with a Unichip tho. Yes it nice since it's plug n play but u have to take it to a Unichip certified shop to get your car tuned since in most cases, the already programmed tune that comes with the Unichip usually won't work properly(idle issues, etc).I have also heard of the Unichip catching on fire. I personally would just go with a ssafc/Ssftc for high boost or a standalone ems (haltec, etc)

I am still confused by this MAF relocation. I am running mine in front of the BOV probably for a over a month now and haven't experienced any fuel cut / hesitation / nor has the car died on me.... runs great and haven't had any issues with my FMIC setup. I will eventually relocate it once I get my 505 zoom IM but.... I haven't had any problems.

Do you still have the factory BPV?

I haven't ran the MAF any other way than after the BOV and my car runs great, even at low speeds it's completely stock drive-ability.

Unichip sucks, it's close to impossible to find a place to tune the car properly and it's expensive as balls, it's just not worth it, my brother had it on his car, and I sold it and switched to the ssafc which I have on my car, the ssafc does have some slight problems.. well 1 problem which is that I have noticed that eventually it seems the comp. will tend to learn around it slightly because the fuel ratios will increase (closer to 10 or lower I mean) after a time, it lasted almost a year last time, but then all of a sudden when I went of vacation and it sat for a week (I had just re-loaded the map before leaving) the car went back to crazy rich and stuff, so I just re-loaded to map and it was great again, but kind of strange..

I guess that the unichip would have that problem anyways also, and the only way around that is with a full standalone... but until then, it's great ..

and Protegebuddy, it really depends on your mods, I would say mostly how you drive your car, and how much air the BOV is actually venting, it might be that your BOV is set pretty high so it's not letting out a ton and it is preventing you from noticing any real problems, but either way, with that set up,- if you don't have a wideband then you will notice it even less, you are running richer than if you had the MAF and BOV the other way around.. Id just switch it when you can, just swap the pipes around or re-arrange them so that it fits and that your MAF is after the car, you might notice it driving better, or at least you should

Well, tried my hardest to fit the stock fans in with my piping...wasnt happening, so I decided to re-route the hot pipe and found a perfect way to do it.

So here is the new pipe routing(I had to use a couple straight lengths because the pipes I needed I had already cut and messed up)

Turbo > Cut 90 degree pipe(plus straight pipe piece) > coupler > Cut 90 degree pipe(plus straight pipe piece) > 90 coupler pointed straight up > straight pipe piece > 90 degree coupler > FMIC inlet

I wrapped the AC line with the heat wrap from the stock plastic pipe.

The install would look a lot cleaner if I had fulll 90 degree pipes that I hadnt previously cut.

Soooooooooo does anyone have any spare BLACK 90 degree pipes they'd like to hand over to me so I can clean this up?

PLEASE!!!!!
