you car is lowered right? I ask because I have a black 2 and I have the same wheels with my RE-11's on them and it looks really 4X4 ish. I would post the pics, but I can't get to facebook in China to get the link.
Looks good though. What offset are they? I bought mine 3 years ago and I can't remember the offset.
For a second there I thought about how strange it would be if your Miata was Montego blue like mine. That would have been scary.
Any reason you got the 40 offset for the wheels? I was thinking about it and I know how the 15 X 8 6UL's fit and they are a 36 offset. So if you are only doing a 7 in wheel, but you want the outer edge of the wheel and tire to be in the same place then you can go with ~24 offset. This is leading me to want a set of polished slipstreams in a 25 offset. I don't know why but I really like black import cars with a fully polished wheel. I'd get a 16" set but I wanna keep the weight down.
I am guessing that it was the angle that the picture was taken which is why your car doesn't look as tall as my car.
First I was not interested in rubbing any fender liners or fenders. I also wanted to properly rotate the tires. Standard offset is 45, and mine is now 40 which means the wheel extends 5 mm out more than the stock ones and about 20 mm inboard and you can see that the tire is closer to the strut-body up-front. I talked to Brian at Goodwin Racing http://www.good-win-racing.com/ and he recommended that I stay away from 30 mm offset unless I want to roll my fenders. You may get that to work with 195-50-15 but the 205s are just a bit wider and we are working with small clearances here.
When I get back to the states, I want to put at least 1 on one of the fronts and jack up the rear on the opposite side a lot making the front compress to see how everything fits. I will probably turn the wheel as well. I'll try to take pictures to let everyone know. I am not going to be getting wheels for a while though. I would rather spend the money on the Miata. I am going to wait for a good set of shocks to some out before doing wheels too. I am not a fan of lowering springs.
Good Info Derrick.
Most folks here now can rest assured that they can run cheaper Spec Miata wheels on their Mazda 2. I considered those wheels but was afraid that I would rub with 205-50-15s on stock suspension. Either way, I am happy with my purchase. Thanks for the input and hope that it helps this forum decide on wheels and their options.
