Holy oil change pita!!!

if your getting frustrated with just an oil change.. and bother working with the car yourself. not being an a$$ but if you wanna diy not everything goes your way...

who is putting your filters on so tight you need to use a wrench to get it off? It SHOULD be able to come off using your hands.

Am i the only one so far that doenst think that an oil change with the stock cartridge filter is all that bad? (uhm) I do all my own, and only takes about 20 mins. Not all that messy in my opinion. I dont think its really that big of a deal... thats my .02

I'm with you....kind of. In my personal experience, the ms3 is a better oil change than my old tacoma was. It wasn't that the tacoma was difficult, it was just overly tedious. It was a top-mounted screw-on, with a run-off sort of cup thingy. And there was a drain under that cup. So I had to put a 4ft tube on it, guide it down through suspension and steering components, around the rock guard, and into the oil pan.

Not to mention, even though its a normal filter, I couldn't just fill it up and screw it on because I had to do it upside down, so it would lose what I just put in

Its all relative. Mercedes ******* blows for oil changes. No dipsticks, computer on the dash tells you if its good or not

Also, bimmers blow. Top mounted cartridge. If you wait too long and the filter is brittle, it will break off and go right back into the oil plumbing

Yes noob, you are being an ass. I didnt know I asked your permission to post on a message board, but Ill be sure to run my thoughts by you next time I have them.

I know not everything goes my way, and I know my limitations, for instance, I tried taking apart my EGR valve and cleaning it, but I quickly realized theres no way I was doing that myself, so I put it back together and ran some seafoam through it and it seems okay now.

See how everyone else on the thread has been relating their experiences as it relates to mine, see how its kind of a community and people give support, try that out for a while and see how that works for you. Until then, sit in the corner until your name is called.

I just did mine a couple of weeks ago. I didn't have the Mazda filter wrench, but a strap wrench worked just fine. A quick-drain plug and a spin-on conversion are on my to-do list next time.

Yea ive heard that about Benz's and my buddy has a 5 series bimmer and he showed me his top mount filter which i didnt like. I had a jeep grand cherokee before this and the filter was on the side of block so u had to reach from the top down and keep spinning till it started so the oil just filled wouldnt spill out of the filter

Actually my new hemi ram is less than desireable as well. The oil filter is a regular screw-on, but it will inherently drip on the steering rack

All I know is I can't do any oil change without a full can of brk kleen readily available

Its the filter housing cap on the stock set up that with the o-ring that makes it too tight to turn by hand. You use the wrench or like tool to turn it off (comes off easy). Its not tightened on that tight to start with, just not loose enough to not get a grip on it with a bare hand

did the Med Center Mazda deal with the 5 filters and get the wrench free--good deal. Try taking off the black plastic shield under the car first, i think its 8 screws...makes it ALOT easier. With this wrench i change the oil in about 15-20 mins.

There is an adapter you can get that angles the filter out forward of the rack. Also has a drain channel so the oil flows properly.
