08.5 CWP Speed3 GT (sold)
Hey all,

I was just contemplating on whether I want to keep my car or move on to a family sedan now since I have my 10 month old and my wife doesn't drive manual...maybe it's time for the speed to go...what do you guys think if I was to ask $19,500 with everything included...? is that a fair price or is it under or over priced, car currently has 41K on the odo, no smoke no nothing..and Yes I know I can part it but I really would like it to go to the new owner the way it is, cuz you know the next buyer will want to mod it chances are. The car is MINT and I mean MINT condition inside, outside and under the hood is like new it's detailed 2x a week, that's right I"m OCD when it comes to the cleaniness of my ride. so what' do you think?
Thanks.

if i were u i would sell it be4 the car empty my pocket,my car have 61k with smoking turbo, blown shock, most annoying about this car is in cold weather we get all that rattle noise(i hate it bad). i was gonna sell mine a long time ago but no luck no one wants to buy(maybe bad economic ppl dont have money), now i need around 3gs to get my s*** fixed!

I've babied the shyt out of my cars, the only creek that I had was the windshield which the dealer took care of. as for the glove box I took care of that..other wise it's been a wonderful car.

its not gonna last u long, i done that 20ks ago now this s*** happened again!!!lets do the comparison, i used have an 02 civic, i put 150k on it no problem at all(saved me lots money), now the car with only 61k with problem here and there, i mean yea ms3 is a good car but it keep on getting all these lil problem, sometime u would regret buying this car, be4 this car going into serious problem i might as well sell it u know. by the way let me know if u want to part it out...hehe!!!

To give you an unbiased, logical opinion.. which MS3GT doesnt seem to be capable of providing...
I say keep it, it isnt like you drive an MR2, theres plenty of family room in a 3 hatch, and you already have a forester for the larger chores.

Just because youre a dad doesnt mean you need to act like a grandpa.

Perfect family hatchback. Very versatile. Just teach wifey to drive a stick and keep the car!
What he said ^

If it wasn't versatile, there would not be a "what have you hauled today" thread

Keeping it certainly isn't a bad thing. I have a 3 year old and we still use my 3 hatch just fine. Granted the back seat isn't terribly large for car seats, but it's not a big problem. Also remember that as your child gets older you'll actually need to cart around less stuff when you go on trips. No huge bag filled with diapers, no stroller (most of the time), no pack 'n play, etc. When mine was younger we were able to cram all of our stuff, plus his accoutrements for a week's trip into the car but needed to use the back seat as well. Now that he's older and we don't have any many large things to cart we can fit it all under the cargo cover.

I will be looking to get a slightly larger car once we have another, but that's more for wanting the ability to seat more than two adults with two car seat/booster seats installed. Possibly looking at a Mz5 (or similar) when the time comes, though actually we'd be replacing my wife's sedan and not the 3.

^ Exactly! :D

I wouldn't worry about it blowing up on you like other's have tried to say... I'm at 75k and it's just like the day I drove it off the lot.

I'll echo the last few sentiments. Keep it!

I've got 3 boys 6, 13 and 16 and I just bought the Speed because of it's practicality. I've had all 5 in my family in it (with a booster for the youngest) and it worked just fine, with room in the back for the dog :)

In your new life as a father there will plenty of opportunities to give up perceived "non-dad stuff", but the truth is you get to do this your way. If the Speed works for you (to me, other than a wagon, you can't get a more practical layout than a 4 door hatch) keep it and keep on having fun.

What does the wife do now for a car? Maybe she should get the sedan?

I bought a Speed3 because I wanted something more practical. It's got 4 doors and cargo room. Why sell it? It's perfect!

It would depend on what car you were looking at next. But like multiple others said, this car IS a perfect family car that is non-minivan and therefor not lame (unless you get that mercedes amg minivan)

I think it would be cheaper for you to teach your wife how to use a stick (actually my wife could use a lesson or two about that as well, hehe <sigh>). Although the drama would be there

I'm having a hard time justifying getting rid of mine because of its versatility. And the only cars I've been looking at are mpg gods. I could totally get something that gets twice the mileage, but I don't wanna so nyah-nyah

Indeed you are correct definately not a grandpa!! I'm still debating even tho we do have the forester but sometimes I really would like to have something that's fuel efficent like a Mazda 2/ honda fit etc... cuz I travel about 150+ miles a day for my job and it's just not the most practical fuel choice.

it is minus the fuel prices, I have to fill out almost ever 3 days and it's just getting out of hand with the fuel prices shooting up and up.!

We have a Forester XT that the wife drives for JR....but I'm leaning towards something like a Mazda 2 or Fit to conserve fuel costs down, since my daily communite is about 150+ miles and the damn thing has to be filled up every 3-4 days and that's just getting old.

Just trying to keep my options open, since we've been talking about #2 already...cuz we're both not young anymore.

I would teach her but she hates sitting low to the ground, bounce etc...plus I'm way to OCD to trust her with my car...hell she's hit the side of the garage with our NEW XT a few times already and that already pisses me off!!

Don't change your car, change your commute. I mean no disrespect AT ALL, but you won't get any sympathy from me about a long commute. You're wasting 10 hours a week in a car. Move. Get another job closer to home.

actually my job is only 18 minutes away from my house, however my job requires me to travel from place to place so thats why the 150+ a day.
