The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Next year for autocross I plan on running a 17" w/ 52mm offset. The STX class size limit is 265 which is insane and definitley will not fit under the MSP. Did know if Marlon, Phen, or anyone else would know the best tire size for that type of wheel and won't rub. I know the stock 215 fits easy with no problem, but thought I would ask people with more experience/knowledge.
 
You can go 235 with little issue. anything more is pushing it.
 
I figured 225 would fit well, but didn't know if 235 or 245 would work. I'm looking at getting Toyo R1R Extreme 235/40/17 or sticking with the Falken RT-615K and just getting a bigger size than the 205/40/16 I have now. Thanks Phen.
 
Do you think they would just rub in the rear even with a litle camber. I already rolled the rears when I was at your place for the BBQ.
 
With the 52 offset, you may have issues with 235's and the strut. I ran 215's on the 50's with no issues. You'll just have to check it out.
 
Forgot about the other side. Might just have to stick with a 225 just in case and go from there. Thanks.

You can go 235/40/17, you will need negative camber in the front and also in the rear. I know my fronts just clear the Coilover by 1/8 of an inch!
 
What if you went with a smaller wheel diameter and stayed with a shorter side wall, in effect giving you a smaller tire diameter, but went even wider? The shortened gear ratios would help our acceleration for an autocross track where top speed isn't an issue, unless it put the ends of your gears at crappy spots. Just a thought.
