Protege03ak46's Build Thread

Gonna be putting the 215's that came with the wheels on next week. They're way better and the extra width always helps. Then I'm gonna get the first official alignment since I bought the car. Goin for 1.5-2 degrees of camber in the front and 3 degrees in the rear. Run a tad bit of toe out in the front and zero in the rear. Should be optimal for the car.

you doin the alignment your self? because i was wondering if you could take a car to firestone or something like that and have them dial in the specs, to what i want. but i heard somewhere they only do factory specs

Ive got the life time alignment with firestone... got cool with a guy that works there and dials in whatever i want... i also go atleast once a month.

I like the gti mud flaps up front but I've got side skirts. Do the rears fit as well or did you keep the rally armors?

Yes.

So Iv been thinking about doing a KL swap. Screw turbo and screw the fsde. Might be in my best option to just sell my BMW and pick up a totaled MX-6, 626 or millenia

doesnt sound like a bad idea. and it would definatley be best if you get a parts car. if i was able to get a parts car my swap would probably be done

How are you going to pull off a klze swap and be ob2 legal? I live over in snohomish and have my emissions done in everett. As far as I know in washington it can't be done. The engine must be the same year or newer as the old engine and have equivilant emmisions equiptment. I've wanted to do the same swap but don't know if it would work out. Let me know if you know different.

Both of weaksauce's cars made the decision for me. I had the opportunity to drive the white one dead stock a couple months back. It just felt so much more torquey and felt smoother. The power band is amazing. The red one has bolt ons and it'll hang with a stock speed3 all day, then again thats cause it weighs 2300lbs. Either way the DE sound right for me. Adding gobs of HP doesn't change how it performs in the corners. I dont want/need power in a strait line. Hell im perfectly happy with how it pulls now, just that little kick is enough to make me more than happy. Turbo's are awesome, but its not right for me. So much can go wrong especially with a FS.

Washington is a very lenient state, if you know the right people and know what your doing your more than good. All I need is a 95+ obd2 mx6, 626, millenia

have you actually "raced" a stock MS3 with that (weaksauces) car?
Id be interested to see it keep up with it...not saying your lying, just would be cool to see

Yes. That car is faster than you and anyone on the street thinks.

Heres the math:

Mikes car weights 2200lb's with driver and half tank. It should be putting down about 170whp. 2200/170= 13 lbs/hp

Speed3 have a curb weight 3153lbs so we'll say 3300 with driver and half tank. Its rated at 263 hp. 3300/263= 12.5 lbs/hp

(I used a 08 speed because thats the car that was raced)

Thats damn close when you think about it. Mike has a lightened flywheel and theirs always the driver mod.

I trust you ill just wait until ur car is registered to do the swap. I've already found a guy with an obd2 engine he's not using for 300.... so I've got that part set.
