Project Black has Begun! - Colorado

I also put the Lamin-X on the headlights and fog lights. That looks super clean! However, the tail light Lamin-X is impossible!!! So frustrating, but there are just too many curves and bends on the rear lights. I'm going to paint them in the next couple of days. Pics of everything as soon as I get another nice, sunny day!

Hell, if you were closer I'd trade you my tails for the stockers. But seeing as this is the daily for both of us, there isn't anything that we can do.

Which tails do you have?? I spoke with Lamin-X today. They are sending a replacement for the one tail light I messed up. They are also sending vehicle specific instructions to explain exactly how to apply them to the tail lights of the P5. I thought that was pretty cool, but if that doesn't work out, I was thinking of the black alteza's.

I have night shaded tails that I got from FORZWIN (didn't come tinted, I did that myself) pics are in the thread in my sig

Oh...that's the spray can right? That will be my next option if the Lamin-X guys can't make it work. Do you ever get pulled over for the tint? That is the only real reason why I want the Lamin-X on there. If I get pulled over, I can just take of the film.

Just do 3 light coats... its enough to take the harshness of the red away while still giving out a lot of light...

Ohhh...very nice! That won't attract too much attention either. When they are totally blacked, I think that's when they call a lot of attention.

I did a complete blackout. But us still easily visible I may hit it with some thinner or just sand them down and do a lighter coat (they are starting to purple). And yes, the are the black altezas

Does anyone know if these would fit without any type of adapter? I'm looking at 5 bolt pattern 17x7 114.3, and I think they're +45. I really like these, but want to make sure they'll fit.

Thanks,

That makes sense. I think by different, you mean smaller, right? Do you know what options there are, or can you make a recommendation? Thanks for the help!

Lol, I just let mine hang, there really is no where to mount it anymore. I pretty much just left mine to hang/lay in the vast open pit left behind and am just waiting for it to go wrong to find a better fix, but for now I have had no issues

You can kind of see it in this pic that I took yesterday of the engine bay, there is no mount made, everything just kind of laying there where it would've been had the stock intake was still there:

I honestly would not use that intake for the simple fact that a friend of mine had the same one and the intake ended up rubbing against the master cylinder, and a piece of the intake ended up inside his motor and locked it up, you said you have around 150,xxx miles are all your motor mounts in good condition??? Have a friend power brake the car and see if your intake comes in contact with the master cylinder....(.02)

I have just over 115k and I've done so many different types of braking and the way I have the piping angled it just "floats" and touches nothing in there. Just a slight up turn of the first pipe and youre golden

I did notice that mine rubed the MC, but I just moved it a little. It works just fine. I will probably need to replace my engine mounts. Any suggestions??

Also, you just convinced me to use the K&N I have in the garage. I bought one thinking the same thing about the cheaper filter, but when it got here, it appears to have the exact same construction as the K&N. Anyway, I'll be changing mine out. Thanks for the tip.

If you moved it by hand your really not gonna get the movement you would get while your accelerating, but as far as motor mounts be on the look out for them in the for sale section you'll find either medevil or AWR mounts pretty cheap

K&N is on, and I have RE-painted my intake. I F'd up the first job pretty bad, so I sanded everything down and repainted the black. I also have a new valve cover gasket so that I can paint the valve cover. I wanted to be safe, so just ordered a new gasket.

I also ordered these... Hope they're good!

Just go easy when taking the valve cover off and re-use the old gasket. It's rubber and lasts longer than any aftermarket gasket will. Many people have reused the original without any problems.
