The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I would just spend the money on the KWs. In the long run, you would probably end up upgrading to coils eventually. Plus, that's a pretty good price.

i know in my buddy robs 3, it was a pretty noticeable difference when he upgraded to the koni's... and unless you plan on tracking your car or slamming the s*** out of the Cobb/Koni combo would be a nice setup

Thanks I dunno its just my DD so Im not sure what I want really I just dont like bouncing all over the place like I do now esp. on the highway it doesnt feel very stable at times. Also I dont want to be breaking my back because Im riding on something with no give so I dunno know.

Are Koni Sports the same as "koni yellows" I know FSD's are lighter duty. I found them on shox.com 566 and they have special 20% off all koni so it would be about 450. If I do get the koni's and these are the yellows I would rather spend extra 20 bucks for new. The dampener adjustment is broke on those used ones but claims they can still be adjusted. He said koni would replace it but then I gota send it to them and all that BS or live with it bein broken.

exactly what i just said... it would be a good DD setup, and you have some adjustability to tweak for a little more comfort or performance

excuse all the fanbois in here anymore... if its not for all out race its not good enough, guess they forget some of us just want a better performing DD without shelling out s*** tons of money or sacraficing all the comfort in the car

nevermind i think the 566 is after they marked its down doesnt really say an original price though except on the home page says "Save up to 20% on all KONI products. Prices are already marked down in our online store: ShoxShop! Also get FREE Shipping to the lower 48 United States. "

I uploaded some pics and a few videos from VIR.

Wow, it looks like you have the track to yourself! Its a fun track. I wish I would have been able to learn it better in the one day I was there.

Did you happen to take 58 to get there? I have Porterfield RS-4 brakes on my Trailblazer and I got them to completely fade in a huge ball of smoke going down the twisy 6-mile steep down hill towing my car there at about 2 in the morning with deer everywhere. Uhaul surge brakes don't work very well when the trailer is constanly under a braking load. Would be an awesome section of road in a fun car though!

I'm going to be lowering my car a lot this year and will be putting a splitter directly under the front fascia this year instead of using an air dam. So does anyone want the splitter I used last year on my car? I'd rather just make a new flat one than tear this one apart. You'll have to figure out how to connect the front portion to the bumper because I had mounting points welded to the bumper. $75. Again, posting here because shipping isn't an option.

Pics of making it here: http://www.breesmotorsports.com/09Season.html The air dam portion is now aluminum instead of the lexan because the lexan got really brittle and cracked.

Pics on the car as I used it last year: http://www.breesmotorsports.com/10Season.html

I couldn't have asked for a better birthday weekend. The weather there was about 70 and just a few small clouds in the sky. There weren't very many people at VIR either. I believe there were only about 25 or 30 cars in the hyperdrive so I basically had the track to myself. I was able to focus on cornering, and not avoiding the slower cars. Unfortunately, the Hyperdrive was too short (felt like 2 minutes). I finally learned to course, but only got 1 or 2 solid laps. I think I scared my instructor when I went all out on the back straight the 2nd lap, he said to slow down a little bit LOL. Before it started, I told him it was my first time on a track ever. So I guess from his perspective, he was just scared because he had no clue what my abilities were. But after a few laps, I think he realized I knew somewhat what I was doing. He kept pushing me to brake later and take the turns faster. Needles to say, I'm hooked.

Ya I took 77 all the way then 58 across. The whole drive was basically amazing twisty mountain roads. I found the most amazing side road going up to Lover's Leap. It's off 77 in the middle of the mountains. I have some video from that, but I'm not going to post it due to the forum's rules about street racing and stuff.

Lovers leap, what a view eh? Jenny and I stopped there with another couple on the way home from the Martinsville Nascar race in October 09. We did not have our 3 then but we did have our 97 Grand Caravan which is not the most fun on twisty roads. Talk about body roll and brake fade!

Dang, Bill. Your front spliter is probably worth more than $75 in just material. I'm tempted to buy it for when my ole P5 becomes a dedicated track car... hmmmm...

I would like to see that, can you put it on youtube?

Grand Caravan's are more than capable race cars right? hahaha

It was quite a bit more than that in materials, but I got my use out of it and its not the easiest thing to store (i.e. my wife would like it out of the way if I'm not going to use it).

what's happening folks. I guess I can say that it's good to be back in Ohio. Plane landed at about 3:30 this morning. After getting my luggage and driving home, I got to the house at about 4:45 this morning. Now I'm at work. Awesome.

Were you racing, or were you driving spritedly, while staying in your own lane and not being a total menace on the road? I know that stretch of road well. It's not easy to go a crazy amount over the speed limit. You wouldn't have problems posting that video up here if you answer the above questions right.
