AFC-SplitSecond PSC1 Map Library

You are talking about boosted_protege, I think that's his user name. He has a pretty solid set up with meth and I think he runs 12-14 pounds daily I believe

^yes that is absolutely correct! i always forget his name. well if it can be done with mpi i would think it shouldnt be too hard on the ssafc. thanks

with ssafc its basically an excel spreadsheet that has numbers in it, 10 is stock, anything lower leans you out and anything higher enriches the mixture. id say start at 10 everything and work from there because i read that gt28rs on stock map (as in no ssafc or any piggyback/standalone) wields you 11 afrs, which is a great place to start, especially if your going to be on the safe side.

ok that seems really simple. i am pretty good with computers, exel, anything like that so i bet it wont be too bad. so could i just tune it with a wideband and driving around? i mean dyno time would probably be better of course, but that should work kind of right?

yeah i always did it driving around, problem is you have to turn the car off to tune, then turn it back on drive, turn off tune, etc. and when changing numbers only go down in increments of .1 ffor example if you want to lean out a specific spot make it go from 10 --> 9.9 and try that out

So, I am close to having my built motor completely broke-in and i currently have the SS AFC..... I see that there are a couple maps on the first post that are for 440cc injectors and 14psi. Is the stock timing map good for that amount of boost?? I will be upgrading to 440cc injectors and (hopefully this summer) I will be getting a haltech or the aem f/ic (if ricktalife and a few others get it working). I was just curious how much boost the stock timing map was good for i guess.

i had mine at 14psi...didnt really have any problems, but I was on stock injectors not 440's
i have low compression pistons though so that gave me some play, i know your built but im not sure on what cp/r, you should be ok though

Sent Mark from split second an email about when they are gOing to updat the R4 software to windows 7.

Here is what I got.

Thank you for your inquiry. *We are going to have a new release of the R4
software in the future. *For now we recommend running the R4 software under
the virtual PC in XP compatibility mode on Windows 7.

Mark

so how exactly do you hook up ssafc psc1 to your laptop? is there some sort of connector or adaptor you need in order to connect to your laptop? will this work with a mac?

Not sure if macs work. But you need a USB cable from the laptop to a connection at the ss. I forget the name of the ss connector.... You can see where it hooks up if you take the cover off ( 4 screws).

how do I do that?

i made basically a whole how to somewhere in this thread on how to run it in compatibility mode, ive never had trouble with it. compatibhility mode takes up a lot less space on the computer as well but i believe it requires windows 7 premium, pro, or ultimate

For those of you on Windows 7 Professional, or Windows 7 Ultimate you can use this program at the bottom, it is very easy just install
and for those of you who dont, try this i have done it and it works. right click on the R4 program and select properties, and then the compatibility tab, then select 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' then select "Windows XP Service pack 3" and BAM, done.
and virtual pc (from microsoft) is also only available on professional and ultimate, so your going to either have to upgrade your windows, or find a third party software to do it. which i recommend searching download.com since they have user ratings and they even test the software themselves and check for viruses and spyware. you could also do a dual boot (but who has a windows xp cd now adays?) but i do not recommend buying a used copy of windows xp if you would like to dual boot your laptop, theres no telling how many times the cd key was used and you could be bonned.

thanks guys. now I got another question. What is the best way to route the vaccum line in the ssafc to the intake manifold from inside the car? ex: I have the ssafc installed in the glove box.

there are two grommets that I know of on the firewall. One is under the drivers side part of the dash and should already have a bunch of wires going through it. The other is just a cap. You can see it from under the hood, it should be sort of toward the middle. It's a black cap, once you pry that out, you can use that as well. Im using that one since the AEM UEGO has that huge connector on it.

hhmm. interesting. thanks for the info I will investigate.

You can find both Virtual PC and XP on microsoft's website, along with directions on how to install and use the software.

Makes it very easy to run the r4 software inside windows 7

I got the wrong version of windows 7. Sucks balls on one hand but on the other my pop's owns a computer shop so maybe we can work something out.
