We are happy to announce the release of the CorkSport Rear Torsion Bar for the Mazda 2. The bar is $99 and is a bolt in upgrade to lower the body roll, much like a rear swaybar does. Link to the Torsion Bar. I have had one installed on my 2 for several months now and it makes for a better handling Mazda 2.

!!! It's here and it's cheap! :D I'm sure it won't fly in SCCA Stock but yummy! Have you guys run another autox event with the bar on? Install is stupid easy too...funny how there's just two holes right there. It's like somebody planned this and decided not to do it.

So what are the downsides to this piece? Not that it hugely matters, I'd order it right now if I weren't out of town for the next while.

I havent had any downsides at all the entire time I have been driving with it. I will have to read the SCCA rules. Most people wouldnt know it is there if you painted the bolts black, lol.

Eh, I don't think I'll be racing SCCA formally anyway, and the bar is clearly going to take ten minutes to remove. I imagine added oversteer isn't a problem on the 2, since it seems to be very understeer-happy.

When is the the front cross-brace coming out? (might as well order both to save on that X-country shipping =>/

The front brace is still a month or so out. We just started production on them.

well crap... It looks like my car is on the way to becoming a Corksport poster boy... Goodbye AutoEXE..... ;-)

The colour is a bit boring but ... what are the costs for shipping to germany? (wink)

When the bar is installed you cannot see it so we just went with black for powdercoating. Shipping via the post to Germany is ~$36.

Hmm...I wonder if the new torsion bar helps alleviate any issues derived from lowering the 2 (clunks, noises etc).

Aw crap missed this!

Super easy install...probably took 5 minutes after jacking up the car. Limited test drive but the rear does feel more planted in sharp turns, reduced lean in the local back road twisties

Any other experience? I think about to order one for my 2 but is there a decided improvement?

I just ordered one, it will be here by Thursday I think. I plan on putting it on before taking the car for some "spirited" driving Saturday. If this doesn't help the understeer issues, I'll stick some skinny Miata wheels and regular tires on the rear and keep my R1Rs up front! I'll report back :)
