Speed6 - DSC Off helps my Clutch

Or so it seems.

So I just started playing with the DSC button. I really regret not having the clutch replaced by the dealership as a condition of sale as it's on and off good. Or mayhaps is the motormount. I've read quite a few things that it could be.

Anyways.

I've recently made a habit of turning the dsc off before daily driving. It's made an apparent difference in shifts and potentially offers better mileage which I'm keeping track of. Even as a passenger, my GF says the car feels lighter and I have to agree.

Only draw back I've noticed is it slows me down in the corners which isn't really a bad thing considering the amount of rain we get and the amount of snow to be expected.

Just thought I'd share.

i recommend you leave DSC on in adverse weather...

DSC controls throttle and braking and will get you out of "oh s***" moments

I've noticed the same thing when turning my DSC off. I wasn't sure if it was placebo effect or what. The car does seem a little livelier, and mileage seems a bit better - maybe 1-2 MPG improvement, if that.

Whats weird is that when if i shut off the dsc i drive like a complete moron for some reason, its like the button is wired to my right foot. I feel as though although the i love the rabbit, i may be squeezing it too hard, so i often leave dsc on.

first thing i do when i turn the car on... turn dsc off. not planning on leaving it on unless heavy rains or a lot of snow. on top of better gas mileage i think your brakes last longer since it does not apply the break as much.

under normal driving even with dsc it's not like its tapping your brakes all the time to slow you down. it only does that if it feels the wheels slip, which probably doesn't happen much unless there are extreme conditions. i think its all in your guys head that it actually has an affect on gas mileage.

This, ive never heard of DSC helping with mileage. Maybe you guys actually try when its off?

ye i doubt it increases the gas mileage. maybe the driving is less aggressive with the DSC off

But where's the fun in that ;)

When the snow falls and the rains heavy, I tend to smarten up behind the wheel. That being said, I'll still check out the limits of the conditions with or without DSC when it's "safe". I've yet to really drive in a lot of snow but I'm anxious for it. May sound cliche but you need to know those limits and I like to be familiar with both. It also depends on who else is my car.

I'm keeping an eye on my mileage with it off. It's just hard not to boost but I figure it'd even all out. So far I'm getting 200-250km's to the top half of my tank and about 150-180 depending how empty I drive it (I try to keep it over a 1/3 tank full which skews my notes). With the DSC on I'd average 170-200km to the top half and 200 for the bottom.

Main difference is also my snow tires. I'll dig this thread up if I conclude anything.
