A lot of you know from posts long ago that I have a cobra apart from the MS3, so thought I would throw up a new thread updating you guys on the car now!
So I had the car finished for about 2 weeks and decided to get rid of the stock shortblock and throw one in that I could throw as much power as I ever wanted at it (the stock cobra blocks can easily handle 800whp).
I purchased the MMR 1000 shortblock and had all the stuff yanked out of the engine bay once again!
This is an MMR Street Mod 1000 shortblock which will be good to around 1,100 whp.
*9.0:1 Compression ratio
*Brand New Cast Iron, current production 03/04 Supercharged Cobra Block, torque plate bored & honed
*New 1200+HP 4340 Forged 3.543 stroke Cobra Crankshaft w/micro polished journals
*New 4340 5.933 Manley H-beam Rods w/ARP bolts (These US made rods are shotpeened, magnafluxed and weight matched to bring the finest H-beam rod available for the 4.6)
*New Forged MMR/Manley or Diamond pistons 3.552 Bore size (High or low compression)
*Speed Pro file fit rings (precision file fit to my application: turbo)
*Speed Pro/Federal Mogul Rod and Main bearings
*Complete Pro Assembly and Balancing for the smoothest, highest revving shortblock available.
*MMR block side bolts
*ARP Main/Head studs
*Felpro Head gaskets
Here's some pics of what the shortblock looked like:
While this was going on, I decided I didn't like the flat black look of everything...so took the parts to the Powder-coaters again and had them re-do everything in wrinkle black...I also took all the hotside piping and had them ceramic coated as well
Here's what the engine looked like with the flat black:
And here's what the parts looked like with the wrinkle black (black fuel lines too) and some of them assembled on the engine:
Here is everything installed in the car again...I love the wrinkle black!
Engine with no natural light shining on it
Engine with the sunlight shining on it...I LOVE how alll the wrinkle black just glistens!
Fuel regulator:
Oil seperator/breather:
Both together where the battery usually sits (re-located to the trunk):
And one of my favorite ass pics of the car haha
AND FINALLLLYYY....
RET tuned the car the other day! One hiccup, we ran out of pump on the race gas tuned sadly....I have dual walbros with the return system...so looks like I'm gonna grab another pump and get a triple fuel hat within the next month or so, just so we can check out the peak numbers it will make.
Pump gas at 17lbs and 13* timing the car made 628whp/609wtq
Race gas at only 19lbs and 15* timing it made 716whp/696wtq
So as you can see if I was able to throw 24lbs of boost at it like we wanted to it would easily make over 800whp!
Oh well though....we will see what happens when I get the new pump and hat!
Also....one issue that is robbing me of more power is the fact that my DR's aren't getting traction on the dyno very well...as you can see in the picture down below. The boost was coming on so fast and so hard that multiple times it would just spin on the dyno...so the pump and race numbers would be higher. Even with two guys in the trunk the car was still spinning and shooting rubber. So once I have the new fuel hat and pump in I'm gonna throw on my other tires and have another go at it
We could have gone back and had the guys sit in the trunk for a re-do of the pump gas tune...but we were over it....I'm happy with the numbers haha.
Here's the graphs:

And a picture of the aftermath from the tires:
And one of the car sitting outside the shop....the stance if perfect to me
Alsooooo...in about 2 weeks some True Forged wheels will be going on :dancenana:
And lasttttlllyyyy....did a pull down in Mexico today
This was only at 11lbs of boost and a 3rd-4th girl pull with MAJOR granny shifting. As you can see and hear as well I lost traction in 3rd some (even at only 11lbs lol). I'll have a bunch more videos from outside the car and all kinds of other fun stuff too. Gotta love having wastegates that vent to atmosphere
Btw this video was done with the windows up.
