The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Yeah, by the time I had it all on the car I just spun anytime I gunned it. All show, no go. Yes I could have spent a fortune on tires that gave me better traction but that just didn't seem reasonable to me.

Really? That's dissapointing. I was hoping to someday break 300 at the wheel, but realistically think it would be more like 275 that I am shooting for...I guess that's what I get for fail wheel drive. But seriously, powerwise I was thinking Intake, FMIC, downpipe, Cobb AP w/ pro tune. And this all comes AFTER the car is paid off. Sooner items on the list include summer tires (needed by Spring), coilovers, short shifter, and BPV (yes, for the sweet Forge KA-CHING! sound) I didn't really take into effect anything real little, like LED interior lights and matching hi-beam and fog lights to my DDM kit.

Anyways, sorry for the boring post. I'm going to bed. I'll bother everyone again in the morning as I write an awesome paper on "The History of Education in America: w/ rationale for integration into social studies curriculum." More boring...30 pages of boring...my life is boring...

Looking forward to this show on Friday! I've played the Grog Shop quite a few times and hopefully Swampy will be running sound and it will be awesome. Mazdas + Soul music = Evan heaven.

Ivan and Chipmunk, Speed3's are fast cars already. More suspension mods so Protege's don't pass you in the corners! :D

I had all that and more, every single bolt on out there expect a bigger turbo, Standback instead of Cobb AP, everything went down hill after the downpipe... too much power. It was fun keeping up with a Cherokee SRT an knowing he couldn't shake me off but even with good tires you'll just end up spinning them. If I had to do it over again i would only do FMIC, intake, BOV, catback and a tune from DP power wise, focus more on the handling. I considered getting another speed3 but it would just get me in trouble, also considered a speed6 but that power train can't handle my right foot

but that power train can't handle my right foot

My favorite quote when Pablo was installing his tach;

"Hmm, let's see where the shift light is set at... 6,5oo rpm? Pffsht... there. (as he sets it to 7,ooo rpm)"

After putting my stock motor mounts back on, I can hear the corksport instead of the whole cabin vibrating and OMG I absolutely LOVE that sound. I have to get the corksport catback for the speed3. I know the stock catback already flows more than well enough for the k04 but that sound is absolutely mean as all hell. I'm so glad I have my protege5 cause now I know exactly what to do and what not to do on a car for the most part. The speed3 is going to be meticulously taken care of moreso than the p5.

Thanks for the info Pablo! That's good stuff, but also disappointing to hear...Also, I guess when I do one mod at a time, hopefully I will see the point at which things get crazy powerwise. As for suspension, that comes first and foremost, although I left rear sway bar and some of those goodies off of my original wishlist. In the end, I think it is all just dreaming and will take years to complete, even though it isn't a whole lot parts/money-wise.

you can always do what i do and have a section of your garage for parts waiting to be put on

No class today, so instead of sleeping in I went to my gf's apartment so maitinance could fix her door and the ceiling while she's at work. The door looks like it has been broken into before and has random screws in it to keep the lock area together. It make sht door hard to open and close and lock. This is the second time maintinance hows come out and tried to fix it. Watching him work is vvery frustrating because it doesn't seem like he knows what he is doing. He's adding more screws here, taking some out from over there. He's taken the handle and lock off and added more putty to the door. He's beat on the frame and removed then reattached the plates to the frame. Result so far...it shuts worse and can't fully lock. Is it too much to just ask for a new door? Seems too simple I know.

when he goes on a break, just take a hammer and demolish the door--be sure and get the frame too. Then when he comes back, just shrug and ask if you can get a new door

Need some of this stuff for when Levi comes around:

there are too many jokes to be had with this:
