What have you done to your P5 today?

Found out I have a blown turbo. The car is going back to NA. I need it to be very reliable for the next year or two so I have to make this decision. All of the turbo associated parts are going to be put up for sale in the next week or so.

Manifold, s-pipe, IC setup, HKS BOV, begi FPR, Flyin Miata o2 voltage clamp, AEM wideband, forcefed radio surround dual pod, tapped oil pan, corksport radiator, spal slimline fan, frozenboost slim fan will all be for sale. Look out for it coming up.

That really sucks man. I was very tempted to do the same on the second build, but I am too stubborn and stupid to give up. Lets hope the bulls*** pans out for you. When it gets that bad, it can only get better, so keep your head up. I wish i could buy all your parts from you. Good luck selling it all. I will send people your direction, just PM the thread link so i can sub to it.

Stupid question, but do you want me to hang on to the Power steering tank, or sell it to someone else?

Thanks for the feedback on the oil. I have been used to a german I-6 that wanted Mobil 1, so learning the changes of the different engine.

Most of my driving is stop and go on the highway, or 80ish on the same highway.

Forgot to say I put some Seafoam in the crankcase about 10 miles before the oil change and the rest of the bottle in the gas tank. Look forward to any results. I did try 89 octane in my last tank, and weirdly my mpg went down nearly a full mpg. I will give it another try next tank to get an average and see if it is worth it.

octane has no effect on mileage whatsoever, if ur NA and you use 93, its a huge waste of money (unless u have a mp3, mp3 ecu)
the only difference in the octane is how resistant they are to knock, so if your using reg. and ur getting good gas mileage, stick with that, no need to waste money on mid grade

did a seafoam cleaning.. added it to the brake booster while running.. but didnt turn off the engine after that..revved it up for a min or 2. blew alot of smoke..(neighbor actually came over and asked if my car was gunna explode LOL).. it threw a CEL so i unplugged the terminal and waited a lil while. and then put it back on,put the other half of the can into the oil. and about a 45 mins later took it for a ride around the block.. no CEL. and it seemed fine. better actually. a little less hesitation. idk ill be able to tell more when i drive it for over an hour to and from class tm.
Also took of the front license plate and suction cupped it in the front windshield. had it just wedged, but it flew out onto my lap in the middle of a turn so i had to use 2 suction cups. looks alot cleaner with no front plate. Next is to remove the bottom front grill. anyone have any ideas for that? or should i jsut take it off?

Ummm, not to alarm you, but I thought Seafoam actually breaks down oil and deposits. Putting it in your oil probably isn't a good idea. Can someone verify?

I've used it several times in the oil. It says right on the side of the bottle that it's another use of the product.

It's fine if you run it for a few minutes without much load then change the oil, but it is a solvent, and will break down the oil.

Thanks a lot Brian. I actually want you to hold onto that power steering tank. I'll buy it off you here in a couple days at the latest. Probably in the next 24 hours. Just gotta get al this bulls*** figured out at the moment.

The car will live on. I plan on going KL turbo in the future but for now she'll stay NA, slow, and hopefully reliable for a couple more years. When I settle down, she's getting put up and is not coming down until everything is perfectly the way I want it to be. The plans were originally for a fully built FS with a lentech automatic transmission capable of holding 500 hp. now, the plans have changed.

HK, I do have 2.5 couplers. Stay on the lookout. The partout thread will come in the next few days.

Took her for a scenic walk, lol.

Tantalas? Nice.

I'll be on the look out fish. Sad to hear it. If I don't upgrade to a lotus I'll wait for the white knight KL fish swap.

lol

the only thing about using seafoam in the crankcase, if you have sludge at all, the seafoam will break that down and it will go straight to oil pan. Larger deposits will not flow out the drain plug so you now have to worry about them clogging the oil pickup. Some people will argue and say just take off the pan and empty, but how are you suppose to know if all the deposits have already fallen into the pan?

If you change the oil even remotely frequently and you end up w/ sludge, something's wrong. I've changed the oil on all my cars between 3 and 5k miles, and I've never seen any evidence of it.

ok so then i will be fine to drive it around a bit for the next few days...? it will definatly be done by friday.. but i do drive a half hour to school and back.... but only have today wed and thurs...

I meant like... 10 minutes. Maybe around the neighborhood, preferable at idle. You DO NOT want this stuff just sitting in your crank case. It's a solvent.

I'll have a few things posted up tonight hopefully. I got the intake off and I painted and wrapped the header. I have a few other parts that will go up for sale as they come off.
