You have put a call out to a pretty small audience, kyoshiro. The Canadian GS is the only Mazda 5 that uses those 16" wheels. I wonder if the Mazda 3, which sells at 10 times the rate of the 5, would be a good place to look for wheel/tire combos in the 16" size?
Except that many tire manufacturers have conflicting requirements for rim widths on a specific set of tires. As well, most 5 owners who up-size tires for the stock rims stay with 50 series aspect when going to 215 width tires. Taller tire can streatch over a narrower rim, I guess.
I had a set of spare Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 tires in 215-45R17, and they fit well on stock Mazda 5 rims.
Usually what is listed on the tire manufacturers website/catalog/spec sheet can vary by tire model - even with the same brand. Check the exact model, and then look at the spec sheet for the tire. None of that guarantees that the tires will not have clearance issues on the 5. You would have to test fit them for that.
A word of warning - I had a customer that added wider tires to his stock rims. Although he was within the "approved" rim width for the tires, the sidewall angles \_____/ were so far out that he had repeated problems with pinch flats, and damaged sidewalls on our crappy Kingston roads. Eventually he returned to the stock size. It was an expensive mistake.
