The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I've had that on my last 4 cars loved it. For the price it can't be beat. I've even had my civic with coliovers, and adjustable f&R suspension aligned there.

Cool, did they have a problem with doing alignment specs other than oem? i.e. I'm probably going to want decrease my camber, just a touch...

so would you guys get an Ipod connection or sirius satellite (both OEM, and around the same price used) for your stock headunit... i cant really decide

So alignment is needed tonight... Thinking about going to Firestone to get the unlimited alignment package that they offer. Have any of you guys done this? Any experience with Firestone? Good? Bad?

Any other shops you recommend? Do you stay small or use a large(chain) shop?

I use a local shop up here who do great work and just down the street and have the shop auto-x so they know what they're doing.

Don't go to Tire Kingdom or NTB. They suck. My friends wheel cam off his VW on the highway because they didn't tighten the lugs, and they "forgot" to align my ex's wheels after installing new tires. Plus many other occasions of suckiness.

Levi, I say iPod integration because I'm picky as hell when it comes to the music I want to listen to. Though Pandora on my phone is really growing on me so maybe Sirius would be nice. But I still opt for iPod. Does Phen have Sirius in the MSM because it always cuts in and out of signal.

i cant have both hooked into the headunit, they both hook into the same spot.... so its one or the other

however i do have an old (couple year old) FM transmitter that i could use for the ipod so i could still have both... haha i dunno

Oh god no. Those FM transmitters SUCK! When I was debating on a new headunit with iPod integration my VW friend was like "Just keep your stock headunit and get an FM transmitter like mine. Here, listen, it sounds pretty good." I just looked at him like I do when I want to say something mean but I bite my tongue. You know that look I do, Levi. Haha

thing is though my ipod is on its last leg... its the original ipod (like first one made) haha

i know the fm transmitter sound quality isnt that great but it still works i mean i got a 6 disc headunit and between that and if i got sirius i think i could be more than happy, if i get annoyed i could go to the ipod as a back up...

alot will depend on if the ipod connection charges while playing or not cause my battery doesnt last 15-20 mins on the ol ipod haha

Buy a touch. :D

I've got 9 months left on my "New Every 2" w/ Verizon. I'm hoping the 4g iPhone will be out by then.... (naughty)

You also hope the 4G iPhone is unfucked by then too.

I have XM in the MSM. My signal issue is antenna placement. If I move it to the center of the dashboard, my issues will be gone. Or I could put it on the roll bar and only use with top down. Who knows. Plenty of options. I just know I'm not ruining my paint by putting it there.

Why don't you run it back to the trunk?

Last time I had a magnet antenna on the paint of one of my cars was on my Civic. It has a nice square patch of small scratches that won't go away now. That's why.

No I mean inside the trunk. Put it on the underside of the trunk lid... That's what I've done on some personal installs that I've done for people (myself included). Never had any reception issues.

Hmm, I've not heard of that. I would have thought that a clear shot to the sky was needed. Perhaps I'll give it a go.

just say no to firestone.

I have the lifetime alignment at firestone. Have had it done once already under the lifetime alignment after putting the bc's on... No problems with them.

Good luck with your alignment. We've had nothing but issues getting our 3 aligned. Lots of places say they'll follow our specs but they never actually tell the mechanics and it gets aligned wrong and we fight with them to fix it and its never right. We've tried national chains and local shops. Best place was someplace in mansfield. They actually listened to sean when he told them what we wanted. We've even tried a local shop that came recommended from autocrossers but they failed to even adjust our rear camber or something pretty obvious. Alignments are a sore subject with us.
