2008 Mazda3 Sedan

2008 Mazda3 Sedan
Heyyyyyyy. Just bought myself a used 2008 Mazda3 this past SATURDAY.
I'm new to owning a Mazda (other than the MPV my parents owned when I was a kid) and a car for myself in general.
I used to drive a 2001 Hyundai Sonata, and then a 2005, but now they're both gone so I got this.
I would've preferred it as a wagon of course, but all the dealer could find at auctions was sedans. Either way, the Mazda3 is much more fun than a Scion xB could be. Hahah.

I was wondering, what mods would void the warranty?
For now, I was planning on getting a CAI from AEM, Mazdaspeed3 sway bars, springs, as well as an aftermarket strut bar.

welcome! sedans are better than hatches anyways so your better off (thumb) lol, i would get an injen intake because less chance of hydro lock. not really sure about what voids warranty, but im pretty sure that the mazdaspeed cai dont void warranty because it was manufactured by mazda for there cars lol (pics)

Hahah Thanks. My friend who drives a 2003 Spec-V Sentra told me to invest in a bypass valve to prevent hydro locks, although I don't really know what they do. Lol.
On multiple occations, his intake has sucked up water while it was raining and locked up his engine, which I know I don't want that to happen.
Yeah, I was thinking that getting parts from the Mazdaspeed3 wouldn't void the warranty simply because they are Mazda genuine parts, and not anything aftermarket.

How does the Injen CAI sound after being installed?

Oh and pics, I'll get them later. It's actually raining today, and I don't have a camera on hand.

yeah, def gotta be careful about hydrolock! i heard the injen sounds freakin awesome! and has the best gains! still lookin forward to pics! :)

check with a dealership service manager about mods you can do w/o voiding the warranty...those guys will be able to answer more questions about warranty coverage than anyone here can

Alriiight. Cool. Thanks a lot guys. When I get a hand on my friend's DSLR, I'll take some night shots when I'm free from work.

I live in Atlanta, GA. More specifically, Norcross.

(butthump)(upbum)(kissass)(spank)(butt)

but thats just my guess

Lulz no. Obviously, a lot of people would come up to that conclusion.
I'm not gay. I just thought pink would be a nice touch. But that's the only thing that'll be pink on the car. Hahah. Anything other than that really will be gay.

No worries. The Atlanta sun and road stones will fade and ding that paint in no time. After painting my badges multiple times and using various methods/materials to get them to stay that way, I finally gave up on mine.

Also, be aware that there is a distinct difference between the Mazdaspeed3 car, and Mazdaspeed accessories for an Mz3. I saw your post (perhaps a typo?) about using MS3 "parts" and thought you should know....

edit: Oh, and be sure to free up the MAF harness no matter what CAI/SRI you decide to go with. We don't want to be pulling out or tearing wires now do we?
It seems though that the MAF location on the Injen is even tougher on that harness.

Plus, a dealer/car company cannot void your warranty for modifying your car, unless it can be proved that the modification itself caused or was involved the problem in question. That's the law.

im kinda feelin the rims and the painted emblem.. although pink may not have been my top color choice...you should do the 3 in the back as well so at least it matches :)

i had the injen cai sounded great even better when i added magnaflow cat-back exhaust removed the resonator sounded awsome. tein s-tech springs, gt spec front and rear upper strut bar's, eibach sway bars made a it a much better ride... mazdaspeed accessories ordered and installed by a mazda dealer wont void warranties, but a good honest dealer can tell if the part installed caused the problem to void warranty, but keep stock engine parts to reinstall before taking in to dealer for repairs if engine fails...

Alriight. Thanks for the tips. As for the MS3 parts, I think I'll just go with aftermarket. Even though it's cheaper to go with OEM parts, I'll have more gain in performance from aftermarket.

I'm actually planning on doing both the emblem and the badge some time this week. I can't wait. But I think I'll probably just do the emblem pink, and replace the Mazda3 badge with a black Axela badge. I don't know. We'll see... Lol
