What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

not worth going for something good like royal purple? will Rotella last 5000-7500 mile cycles? I don't change oil every 3000 miles.

you should.. you can get away with it on a normal Honda Civic, going with a 4000 mile oil life and running it... but on our cars even if the oil life is 5000 miles you should change it anyways at 3000 miles.. hell ill be changing mine every 500 miles for the first few 1000's on my new motor.. but on any forced induction vehicle every 3000 miles or less is Key.

I disagree with this Gary. There have been plenty of UOA's conducted on the 5w-40 that show that a 5000 mile interval is still providing ample protection against fuel shear.

You can change it more if you want, but it seems like a waste of money to me.

ive just always been a big fan of changing my oil more often then not.. but thats personall preference. when i tore the motor down, it was suprisingly very very clean, and it saved me some money when it went to the machine shop being that way.

I hope this holds true. I change mine religiously at 3k or less with amsoil. But I have just hit 3k.

took mine through the touchless car wash today!!

Broke down and ordered the cpe front tag mount from SU.. This will be the first time I have ever ran a front tag.. But I'm moving to one of the worst places in Virginia for cops, they don't F around either and they will own you if you are not legally complying with the laws of the great Commonwealth..

Got the tint on Leia. 50% up front, 20% in the rear (so to speak), and 20% across the top of the front windshield. Tis sex.

Now, I cant wait for next week to take my baby into the body shop to remove that ding....
then I can get all the toys. :D

I've been running the 5-40 Rotella, now that I installed the OCC should I switch back to a 5 or 10-30? I live in Alabama so it gets hot here. After reading Steves link on shear it proposes keeping the vis #'s closer.

Because the fuel is the reason that the oil is shearing, hence fuel shear in the oil. I don't know, I didn't make it up.

Um... i thought it was the forces applied by mating surfaces that caused oil to shear.
im not really that educated on the topic/names so
/me arguing.

changed the oil for the first time... couldn't get the filter drain plug out, but it doesn't seem to serve any purpose besides cleanliness... was able to change the filter without removing the drain plug. made my garage look like the gulf of mexico though

anyways, put in Shell Rotella T6 5W-40. the turbo has yet to smoke, but I figured I might as well be proactive.

Thought about how cool it would be if it had a v6 or turbo. then i was all like "a turbo 3 would be cooler" (thumb)

Took my car out of the garage for the first time in 2 weeks this morning. On my way to work, noticed that the bulb behind the right-most knob (temp setting) is burnt out, but the halo is still visible. Anyone know if that's a simple bulb change, or is that a more difficult one that requires soldering?
