The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

one day i'll get wheels, i just can find any somewhat affordable that i really like. I could sell a kidney

Steve, do you have a link to pics of your hood and trunk? I bet that looks awesome with the yellow MP3.

Last summer I blew a lot of cash on my P5. I even sold my acoustic upright bass to buy my Enkeis. But wheels will always make a car look 10x better. Even old beat up Accords with 15" American Racing wheels make me do a double take when they go passed. Haha

That looks sooooo good, man. That's exactly how I would roll if I had your car. Black OEMs and all. Very well done, sir. Looking forward to seeing it in person!

Hood still needs a little adjusting, but I haven't felt like taking my fenders off again to do a good adjustment/fitting...

It was looking pretty rough @ the end of winter... It's come a long way and still has more to go. Gotta do a little bit more paint & bodywork clean up and it should be doin good. Pretty impressed with the wetsanding & clean up I've done thus far; didn't know how it would turn out when I did it, as I've never done much body work of any kind b4. O ya, and I have a sheet of satin black vinyl to put on my roof soon, too. ;)

What do you think about the fog deletes? I'm just not a fan of the huge front fogs in our bumpers.

I've got my fogs out right now and will finish fitting 3000k HIDs into them this weekend. Then, back in they go. I actually like our fogs... And once I get those done, having the 5000k lo's & 3000k fogs will be sweet! Should be some pretty solid light output.

very true, but people have hacked up thier lip to add them.

Random question:

Does anyone know if streetporting is allowed in either the ST or SP solo classes in SCCA? I've read the rulebook many times and they only mentioned bridge/peripheral porting in the prepared classes. I got my helmet in yesterday for the Mid-Ohio event next weekend and I'm thinking I might want to get more into racing. If I keep with my current bridgeporting, etc. plans I'll most certainly end up in SM.

Competitive SCCA class vs power/fun/uniqueness, hmm...

hmmm..... well let me ask you this....

would you rather have a car you can enjoy driving everywhere and not be the fastest in a class or spec it out to be fast in a certain class, but lose some of the fun driving on some sunny sunday afternoon??

does that make sense?

Makes sense, but in my case sticking to a competitive SCCA class would have better driveability, LOL (bridgeport vs streetport). Here's my current logic:

If I keep my current plan (bridgeport 4-port motor, ITB's, Haltech ECU, etc.) I'd end up in SM. It'd still be fun, but I fear after not being competitive for I while I'd get bored, but I suppose there's always NASA HPDE events ($$$)...

If I keep the current engine (6-port) and scale down to a streetport (I don't know if this is allowed) I might be able to fit into CSP with everything else I want to do (trans, ECU, etc.). I'd be more competitive at autox (still get beat readily) but the setup isn't as "fun" or "original".

Lastly I can skip the porting and all the transmission work, add a bolt-on exhaust, intake, etc. and stick with STR (for however long that class lasts). I could probably get pretty competitive, but that's very mildly modified all things considered. There's still HPDA events ($$$)

I'm just getting antsy with only doing suspension/brake work. My next step is transmission, but as I wrote above, that could determine which class I end up in.

my plan is make a fun driving car then auto-x it and shoot for my best time, i know with my lip and soon* cf trunk and hood i'll be out of any competitive class for my car. but that's me.
