I don't see that many Pinto's on the road, so by your logic that would be a more desireable car based on exclusivity?? Here in St. Louis I see more MS6's than I do Evo X's. Not bashing on the MS6 (I obviously drive one) but there is a reason that the Evo has been in production since the early/mid 90's and the MS6 stopped after 2 of production.
Both are good cars but again as stated If you want more of a Tuner friendly car go with the EVO simply because of the aftermarket support. I dont know how many there are where you live but where i live theres plenty of Evos around including the newer models. I have seen a few ms6s as well but its because we all keep in a tight circle within the performance/import community we have meets where we all get together etc through Ricekiller that they have every monday.
Yea because its a Mazda.. Seriously the only known performance cars from mazda as in mainstream are the Miata and Rx7.
The Evo has a legacy years and years of service to the industry and a diehard fan base just like the 240sx,180sx, sylvia, etc. The Mazdaspeed 6 its niche is a thin line its more like the legacy GT but even Subaru has more a lineage with its legacy regarding performance overseas.
Regarding the MS6 I dont know the exact number of cars produced but I believe north america got around 5,000 the first year and about half that the next year not sure though.
Globally I think it was over 10,000 produced the first year.
Honestly I did not want an MS6 at first I wanted maybe to get an S2000, RX-8, Audi TT, EVO possibly, Mazdaspeed 3..
The only reason I got mine is because it was only 14,900 and ithad only 19,000 miles on it. I got it january 1st or 2nd forgot of this year.
