The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

i didn't think he would stay, it's Cleveland not Akron. for the next couple seasons he gonna be on a worse team than he left. Miami has no bench and the Celtics will run over them so they won't even have to worry about the Lakers

I just want all this talk to be done. I'll give it one more day.. but after that I don't wanna hear about any of this s*** ever again. Been at least 2 years of this talk, now we know where he's gonna go. Done. Over.

Does anyone have a working Windows PC they don't use anymore? i'm looking for a working desktop with at least XP. Doesn't need to be fancy; just need it to work and be able to accept a high-speed ethernet cable.

Actually I worked as a Dell on site warranty technician for 3 years and I would recommend Dells over any other pc. They are the most user friendly when needing support and they offer coverage far above any other pc company. At the same time I also handled contracts for HP, Compaq, IBM now Lenovo, eMachines, and Alienware. Dell by far exceeded the rest of those. I understand having one bad Dell computer for someone who only needs one computer can tarnish their opinion of them. However in the larger scheme of it they are the superior pc company that offers a great product and level of support matched by little.

They have great customer service, I'll give them that. But you can get more computer, for less $$. Dell has consistent problems with cheap and underpowered network adapters, among other things. I am in college, and I see A LOT of people with Dells, and I also work for GE as a co-op/intern right now, so I see A LOT of Dells (every GE comp is a Dell...), lol. Needless to say, my work laptop is Dell. My room mate & g/f both have a Dell laptop, as well. ;)

They are fine computers, and like I said, customer service is top notch. But if you have any knowledge of computers, then you're better off going with something else where you can get more computer for less money simply without paying for their customer service.

Yes but who is the great majority shopping for one computer? People who have no knowledge of computers. If everyone you know has Dells why do you tell people not to get them?

Lol, I have one because the company I work for supplied it to me and requires that I use it. ;)

This is the only recommendation I was trying to make:

I personally don't care about the customer service, because I am able to fix a problem faster myself, than wait for a tech to come out. So like I said, customer service is the only advantage to getting a Dell. Aside from that, you are getting less computer for the same $$, because you're paying for the customer service & marketing expenses that Dell spends A LOT of $$ on.

My desktop @ my house is a gateway; it was relatively cheap when I got it 5 years ago (~$700) and to get the comparable Dell at the time, would've been over $1000...

I like hp's. Keep an eye/ear on the fan, if it's a laptop, tho. I've heard some of their laptops don't have sufficient cooling and can overheat if it sits on your lap or couch or something similar for a prolonged period. Those laptop pads for your lap are clutch for helping them stay cool...
