MS6 Build Number Thread

WOW, thats exciting news!! Legit confirmation straight from a MAzda rep! woo.
now we can feel extra speshul like our MSP brothers who started the MS heritage. :D

Thanks for even further confirmation Mistersix!! that is 100% the info me and boosted had concluded. we spent like 2-3 days discussing/investigating and having my DOJ friend research for me. haha.

well good. i'm glad i was a helping hand in this. and not the one that poked holes in it.

according (again) to the mazda6, big giant workshop manual. that the 11th number, the production plant, can in fact be 5 and does designate flat rock michigan. however its only ever associated with non mazdaspeed 6's. its written in the key exactly like this.
5=AAI, Flat Rock, Michigan/U.S.A.

and another tidbit. all non mazdaspeed 6 vin's start with: 1YV all speeds: JM1
so in other words. you'll never see a ms6 was built in flat rock, or a vin that doesnt start with JM1

i'm gonna go find out what mine build date is and post up.

ohh and i almost forgot.. Jenn or Carter, im a failure at using that spreadsheet thingy.. i see that the last 5 people who posted are out of order by number compared to the rest of the sheet, i have no idea how to put them in order. :D

spreadsheet link is up in the first post.

Fixed. The list is now ordered by PN.

that would be interesting Dave.
however, im sure it would be heavily USA biased since that is the majority of members on m247.
out of country MS6 roll call would no doubt be super low on this site specifically, Canada would prolly be the only other large MS6 presence here.

oh and mistersix, good to know about the michigan plant. JM1 officially means all MS6 HAVE to come from either Hofu or Hiroshima, or else its not a speed6. :D

that out of country bit brings up and interesting question (to me anyway..) what about the euro Mazda6 MPS? are those VINs in the same range?

Keep it simple. I think a two line plaque, with the vehicle name (in proper font) and build # and year would be enough.

The only problem with x of x is that you'll probably never be able to find the exact number of how many were made. The probably sacrificed a few for crash testing, lost a few in freak accidents before delivery, as well as the ones that were lost on the car carrier ship.

Take a look at some of the in cabin production plates that Mugen has made for cars like the civic RR for ideas.

Great idea though

What about a recall list? There must have been a recall that affected every speed6. I'm not sure why mazda would be so protective with the info.

i dont think that there being protective, i just think that its not publicly documented.. the investigation is still on going about finding a definetive number that were made.. id say ballpark would be somewhere between 10,800 to 11,000.., there are several members with multiple contacts including myslef that are working on finding all of this information and making sure that this is solidly accurate.. from what ive heard so far from the mazda rep i spoke too its 100% confirmed, he'll be coming on here and making a statement about it within the next week or so.

I still think we're going to see that the VINs aren't sequential. If that's the case, there might be a lot of variation in the numbers.

I hope the Mazda rep can find out how many were made for the US and Canada... The speed 6 is a rare car in general but it's VERY rare in Canada I find. Maybe it wasn't an even distribution... like 7,000 made for the States and 4,000 for Canada?

Who knows.

i HIGHLY doubt it!!.. find one.. what do we have over 75 numbers spread out from start to finish that are in sequence with there build dates and last 5 digits.. dont post that s*** in my thread, unless you have substancial evidence against what has already been documented.

everyone on that list will be receiving a PM shortly.

Hey, calm down there killer! We've got a very small sample of the total MS6 production. If we start seeing groups of them in sequential order, then we'll know better otherwise, but I (personally) think we're going to see that they were mixed in with JDM/EUDM 6 production for 06-07. We still need more input otherwise to prove (or disprove) this theory.
