Hey everybody,

Just bought an '08 3s h-back a couple months ago. Now I regret not going for a speed3 but one step under isn't the end of the world... I hope to get some good advice out of these forums for mod'n it.

So far its been a great car but I've noticed a couple of small issues with it.

When I use the windows or turn the wheel while idling at night, my headlights dim. I feel that the stock battery doesn't have nearly enough juice. I've been contemplating a new battery with higher CCA, a voltage stabilizer, and iridium spark plugs. Any thoughts?

Thanks everybody

p.s. (potkettle <<what the hell is this about.

ya at some points i wish i had a speed, but there really hard to find, at least where i live! but i do love my 3 na! speeds are over rated anyways! :-P , i believe the voltage stabilizer and the new battery sounds like it cure the problem! and im pretty sure the icons you posted is that old saying - the pot calling the kettle black! :-)

The power steering on the Mazda 3 is electrically assisted. If you had a voltmeter in your car and you turned the wheel at idle you'd notice a drop in voltage down close to 12 volts. However, if you have some RPM's and the alternator is crankin' out a little more voltage, you wouldn't notice much movement (stays above 13) and the headlights don't dim.

And I'm guessin' when the window reaches it's limit, whether up or down, is when you are seeing the dimming of the headlights. Don't exactly know why that is but it's common on all 3's. That's just the way it is! Welcome to the club!(dunno)

BTW, congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forums!

Good to know. I'm one of those people that always thinks there's something wrong with their car. Haha.
