Anytime dude, but probably earlier in the week if you will be labor. If you have experience in this like Santos, maybe a little later in the week to help level, build, etc.
Here is my "tentative" plan, subject to change at any moment.
Thurs., 5/20/10: Get materials, remove fence section, start doing short side wall, and 1-2 level areas (I have a few of these only like 2-4 bricks long).
Fri., 5/21/10: Finish up side wall, this may even run into Sat.
Sat., 5/22/10: Major work starts. Remove back wall. That may take all day. If not, dig trench deeper for traffic bond.
Sun.: Fill trench with traffic bond, which has to be tamped down, and possibly lay 1st course.
Mon. or whatever day works well. Finish up courses while doing backfill every 2 bricks high or so. Wall will be 6 courses high.
Guess I should fix this, LOL! And give a summary stat.
Let's see:
Thurs., 5/20/10: Got materials, removed fence section, start doing short side wall removing a few timbers.
Fri., 5/21/10: Rained out
Sat., 5/22/10: Major work starts. Removed back wall with Santos and brother-in-law. That took all day.
Sun.: Cut out 3 buried ties, cleaned up side wall area, started laying base there.
Mon.: Carl and Brian dug out back wall trench, found concrete and re-bar in our way. I finished up side wall.
Tues.: Work continues on trench with Brian and Carl. Cut exposed re-bar and removed more concrete. Filled trench with traffic bond, which was tamped down, and layed 10 bricks of 1st course.
Wed.: On my own (bah). Finished up first course, layed 4 more courses with back fill at each step. Beat the rain (yeah). Felt sick after 12 hours straight.
Thurs.: Brother-in-law and I finished 6th and 7th courses with backfill, finished most of left wing.
Fri.: On own again, finishing right wing.
Sat.: Wife decides to do her own thing pruning bushes, thus not getting dirt backfill done. I made right "rock pond".
Sun: off
Mon: Rained out in the morning making finishing wall 10x harder with mud everywhere. Finished up the dirt backfill, leveled the lower tier (ie. cleaned up all the high spots from dirt that fell when we removed the wall). Transplanted plants, layed 4 yards of mulch.

- 2 yards #1 wash stone
- 330 blocks (30 left over)
- 4 yards mulch
- 4 10 ft. draintile sections
- At least 10 gatorades and gallons of water.

- Levels: 4 ft., 3 ft. 2 ft., 8 inch, 2 line levels
- 500 ft. line string
- 1 tape measure
- 1 sawzall, 3 metal blades, 2 wood blades
- 1 circular saw with wood and masonry blades
- 1 sledgehammer, 1 regular hammer, 1 rubber mallet
- ~ 10-12 stakes for lines
- Scrap OSB for temporary retaining wall while digging.
