How to build a retaining wall.

so the block is in your garage? $20 says with your luck, one of those blocks is going to fall on your car.

I need you to post another pic of your current set up. I am going to talk to the boss tomorrow and see where he recommends we shoot the drainage tile to.

Oh, and BTW, there are now 360 blocks! LOL! I measured the side and determined 30 blocks/layer x at least 3 layers. Good thing they didn't split that pallet yet. I didn't think I needed that many for the side.

Stone baby, (stoned)!!!!

So Santos and I busted ass yesterday for 6 hrs., and got the entire timber wall down, including the side wall, minus 2 completely buried ties on the edges. Those will get sawzall'ed out today. My forearms are shot today from carrying those ties. We pulled 25 or so 8 footers, weighing close to 200# each, and 10 more 4 footers. My forearms were actually cramping up while I was washing my face in the shower afterward. My brother-in-law helped for the last 2-3 hrs or so, giving Santos and myself some breaks. Pics of progress to come tonight.

HUGE kudos to Santos for all the help!!!!!!! (nana)(rockon)(thumb)(cabpatch) The dude is a beast. I owe you big dude!

Carl, what time you coming tomorrow?

E: PM me your address, I'll come help tomorrow. I'll PM you my # just in case. You guys decided on a time?

no prob man! good luck with the rest of your wall. I'll post a detail tomorrow of a retention wall for an additional resource.

I'm thinkin 9 or 10, maybe earlier if I'm awake? What works for you?

10 am is fine. I'm wiped from today. My brother-in-law and I worked from 11 am to 8 pm. We spent the first two hours cutting out and removing those buried ties. We ate lunch, then started clean-up on the side wall, where a bunch of wash stone and dirt fell from pulling the ties. We put up a temporary board wall to keep any further dirt/stone from cascading into the work area. We then had to dig out and level some areas and determine where the courses would start/end. We set up our line levels for the 2 different levels/courses. Jen sorted the stone from the dirt we pulled. I then had to go to Menards to buy a tamper since the mechanical ones are too big for the area. I also bought some 10 ft. conduit pieces to level the base, screeding over the top of them. We got one course of the side wall done, started the second course, but it got too late. So.....plan for tomorrow is to finish this up, then start the back wall, doing the same as we did to the side.
