93 MX6 5 spd
Hey everyone!

I got my 93' mx6 about 5 months ago from a little dealership that sells used cars. It has about 180k miles on it and runs fairly well.

Recently though...I'd say from about 3 weeks ago, it's been having trouble starting and would shutter in gears.
Replaced the spark plugs, which were in horrible condition. After doing that, my car started up PERFECTLY FINE for 2 days. By the 3rd day, it went right back to having a hard time starting. It sounds like it's trying to turn on but doesn't get anywhere with the first try. I stop and try again and usually by the 2nd or 3rd try, it'll start up. Usually rumbles tho...engine shakes around a bit or something and I have to give it a little gas to get it completely started up. So weird. Just used the Lucas fuel injector cleaner too..usually do that routinely. Anybody know what the cause could be?

I was told maybe it's my ignition wires?
& one of the cylinder spark plug wires has black electrical tape all over it..idk why. Was just like that. Could that be it?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Nobody really cares that you are a girl...

Well that's good to know. Should I change it to "new person"? It was intended to let people know I'm new to the forum...as in, first day on this thing and getting into the groove of things. Thanks though.

Fuel filter, plugs, wires. Start there. And complete the rest of the routine tune-up. I bet the car runs a lot better. And there really is no need to run injector cleaner for now..just give the car a complete tune-up.

Don't forget your cap and rotor button on your distributor. If the gasket is rotted away on the distributor you could be getting alot of moisture in the cap and that will make for a rough start too.

more than likely, the plug wire with the tape on it got 2 hot and burned in half and someone taped it together.
