Mazda Protege SE 2000
Hi everyone!!!

I'm looking for a air/fuel controler for my protege 2000 with a 1.6L N/A engine.

Here's my setup for now:
-OBX headers
-2" full custom mendrel bent exhaust
-2" custom SRI (Toyota Celica 00-05)

I already have in stock a AEM UEGO wideband kit.

I have track sessions soon and I really need to get my A/F ratio from 18-19 to 12-13.

Thank you for helping me find a solution!!!

Steven

PS: here's a picture of my engine bay so you can see what kind of intake I have.

Would you mind inputting your actual location into your profile. UserCP > Edit Your Details...

Thanks! (2thumbs)

umm wow very nice....question though...why get an afc(which btw will likely not work) for the 1.6 when you have the fs right there on the way, i would hold off.

Thanks...

The FS is not ready yet; just bought a house so the budget is low just the time to get in.

But why are you saying the afc wont work? Mazda ECM are too stupid?

I already have an AEM wideband kit, and if I put an AEM fuel/ignition controller (item #30-1910)... will it work?

I was checking the prices and for almost the same price of an AFC, I could get a Megasquirt standalone... that for sure would work.

And what about the Greddy E-Manage?

The thing is I have track events soon and I really want to make better times than last year... wich I wont with this ****** up A/F ratio.

I believe the ecu is actually too smart. I know AFCs and the like on the FS/FP will work for a brief time/not at all, then the ecu just takes over again. MS would work, and I believe eManage has been used by a few of the 2.0l guys. Just not positive. I know one of the old members used to have a 1.6l that was turboed and he ran a Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator to give more fuel with boost. this wont really work for you since you are still n/a and the pressure would likely stay the same.

In the trunk:

And here's my car... picture from yesterday, car dirty and bad picture but it shows what's to be seen.

And there goes the project (FS-DET engine not finished yet)

wow thats nice!! and nice protege too. what u going to swap in to a 2.0l? u should that way me u can can be buddys of 99-00 2.0l proteges got rep. o and i saw u got 5 lug what did u do?

No thanks for the A/C kit... the less accessories I have, the best it is for me! I add things on my car that gives road control, I just don't care about comfort... well not too much ;)

Yes I'm gonna swap in a 2.0L turbo forged engine with a lot of goodies!

And what do you mean by "what did I do" for the 5 lug nut thing?

I replaced the front hub/spindles by P5's with mazdaspeed 6 OEM brake kit (13" disks, calipers, pads).
Replaced rear spindles/hubs by MX-6 1996 with MX-6 OEM calipers, brembo plane disks, hawk black pads and new OEM MX-6 dust shields.
Replaced all 4 transversal suspension arms by new OEM P5's.
Replaced trailing arms by AWR for MSP.
Replaced all 3 handbrake cables by P5's.
And finally put a set of MSP's wheels.

But thats not all:
Replaced front and rear sways by MSP's (racing beat)
Replaced front lower suspension arm bushings by Pedders
Installed AWR front/rear endlinks
Installed tokico illumina (MS green version) modified for Ground Control Eibach's
Eibach camber bolts front/rear
Cusco strut tower bar
Ron Davis radiator w Summit custom SS radiator hoses
Custom coolant tank
HID 8000K
LED flashers/parkings front/rear
B&M short shift
Corkrsport urethane shifter bushings
Bronzoil shift linkage bushings
Corksport urethane exhaust hangers
Tom Motorsport seats (the only colormatched grey tissue I found)
MSP floor mats
Some audio for non-track days (car is daily driven so...)
JSP CF trunk (real, not just covered)
TCS CF mirrors

A lot of other parts will come with the FS engine, like another set of spindle/hub to receive bigger axles, AWR engine mounts, and all the other usefull things around the engine! Lol, gotta big box full of parts waiting... dam this thing is like a drug!!!
