Check it out. I have more video of actual driving conditions if anyone would want some of that.

Symptoms:
- Hesistation when starting from idle and dead stop in first
- AFR lean spikes, sometimes as high as 35:1 when starting, mostly 20-25 (I don't boost when it is like this and mostly, I feather the throttle a bit before trying to put a load on the car)
- Rough idle
- AFR spikes to very rich when on freeway at constant speeds with -8 to -10 Hg on boost gauge

So? What could it be?

First person to correctly diagnose the problem gets a candy bar (Only verifiable if I fix the car and it runs like a top after) not to exceep 5 USD in price. If you want a candy bar more than 5 dollars, I will send you a 5 dollar bill instead to your paypal address or via mail.

other than the spikes it doesn't seem that bad? my afrs are similar at idle
I haven't had it go as high as 35:1 except once. Most of the time, it spikes to 20:1 or 25:1 and then back down to 15 within a second. Only when starting from stop, and only when sitting idle for 10+ seconds.
i watched both video's I didn't see it go as high as 35:1
Yeah the spikes you saw in the vids are "normal" for right now. It never did this until about 500 miles ago, and it has been steadily getting worse. I do think it is the MAF, but I don't want to go out and buy a new one unless it is the MAF. (I am a broke college student ATM and have around 750 expendable cash each month, and that includes food and booze haha though booze comes second to reliable transportation at the moment)

do u have a piggyback of some sort? If so try taking it out.
I do. I have a split-second TSI piggyback, but as of right now, I don't trust the MAP on it so i haven't been going over 1 or 2 pounds of boost until I could get this thing figured out. After I do get it running well enough, I a going to get a 2.5" turboback this summer, boost controller, and a tune for 10 lbs.

so my car has been doing the same thing for a while. first i cleaned the MAF and then i reloaded the map on the SS AFC. it was still running like crap. i changed out the intake manifold and everything but it still ran like crap. it ran like that for a while until i got the bright idea to clean the idle air control valve. it ran very well after that. good idle, good AFRs. but now i have a crack in my thunder racing manifold and that is causing the car to run like crap again.

Does anyone know what page the Idle air control valve is on in the protege parts manual?

ETA: It is on 1-E 6, that seems like it would be easy to get ti. A little b**** to take the TB off, but not bad. Will try it this tuesday.

Well I found half of the problem. Here is my IAC valve. Gunky, sticky, and just plane in need of a cleaning. But the problem is still there. Any other ideas?

Fuel pumps dont work shittier, they either turn on or they dont. But the issues I had with fuel was when I installed it the pressure seal had a small crack in it that i didn't notice. My car was running lean as hell under load. Replace the seal and all is good. Not sure if thats it but might check anyway, that seal in fucky has to be in just right.
