Lets keep this on topic guys... I see a topic of REAR DIFFUSER... other ideas comments, parts etc can be directed to the thread where iSport is looking for ideas and interest in general.

guys i'm trying to help isport out with their CF rear diffuser project. i dont think theyre going to do anything as extreme/functional as the miata one, and at this point i dont think theyre looking to do urethane or sheet metal.

as for a front splitter, please direct the chatter to the isport CF ideas section. im sure theyd be interested in hearing about it, and might be able to help you with designing something functional.

if a mod can clean that up it would be good, im really hoping to keep the running list here for them.

on a side note, while the front splitter looks really cool, one as low as the one in the pic wouldnt last an hour on the roads near me. mind you, im not from TX or FL, but you guys dont have 8" deep potholes.

Man that's what were doing "generating ideas!" that's what this tread is spose to be about right. Well that's what I want for my RACE CAR, a urethane( thank you for the proper use of material) rear diffuser. Just giving my 2 cents that's all man and hopfully Isport will take an intrest in that because the pics you posted in the first post totally looks like a functional diffuser to me. Just need to connect the dots that's all.

Post ideas regarding other parts HERE.

Keep this thread to the topic at hand.

Wagon what are you talking about? That WHOLE post was about input about the rear diffuser that isport is going to make. I thought that's what this treads purpose was?

I was directing it at earlier posts made in this thread which have been removed... not the last post put up. I got a request to clean the thread, otherwise I wouda just left it alone.

Oh ok, my bad! Anyways I talked to bob at isport and he told me that they weren't set up for injection molding, but they might be able to make one out of Kevlar which would be alot more practical for my needs

Diffuser update

Thursday morning and no further news. Just waiting for the vehicle. We have all of our ideas in theory but now need to apply it to the actual vehicle conditions and dimensions. Hope to hear from SwirlFX soon as to delivery of vehicle. Thanks, Bob

what are your thoughts as to the effectiveness of this thing?

We have been designing and exploring the various options regarding this project for the last couple days. Thank you all for the feedback (both informative and critical). We feel we have enough interest to continue, but we will wait until we have the vehicle here at our shop before we put the finishing touches on the final design and drawings for any and all of your feedback. We have decided we will sell the first ten for no more than $550.00. Depending on the final design, it might even be a little less. If you want it in fiberglass it will be less (but you will have to paint it). We are excited about starting this project and hope you will be satisfied with the results. We are still hoping we can produce a part that will accomodate both the ones with lips and ones without. Please do not attempt to send a deposit untill everything is finalized. Thanks, Bob and Bryan

So this will be available in fiberglass, as well? I may be interested pending on the price for a fg diffuser... No way $550 is in my budget currently, tho.

Update

Good news......... we will have the car here this morning. We should be able to make the necessary measurements to complete the sketches and drawings for your final review and feedback. Yes, the difusser will be available in fiberglass, kevlar and carbon fiber. We have stated our position and limitations regarding the issue of the effectiveness in prior posts. We feel it will add some benefit but cannot guaranty anything regarding this issue.

I would be in it solely for cosmetic enhancement. I personally don't feel any *noticeable* functional gain is brought around by anything other than a full under-body diffuser/down forcer. Which is unnecessary if the car isn't tracked.

This is going to be cool, I already want one!! Subbing for pics and on Swirlfx's msp no less. SIcK:D!!

Nice I am super stoked now that it's taking off!! Can't wait to see the sketches etc!!

Diffuser update

After spending time looking at the undercarriage and taking measurements we have decided to do a four fin center diffuser. We are in the process of doing a detailed drawing, but ours would look like the apr one for the S2000. it will be a 4 fin design that is in the center only.

it will look like this:

The APR one goes for $735 for carbon and $520 for fiberglass.

We will do $475 for carbon fiber and $375 for fiberglass for the first 10 we send out.

Once we get a 15% deposit from 6 people we will start the mold.
