2003 Mazda Protege5
OK Soo, I hope I get some good advice and information on performance and cost of parts so I know how much I need to save. I just got a 2003 Protege5 Stick Shift, red, 45,000 miles on it. I have some ideas but don't know if they are the right ideas. I want to upgrade my performance, cold air intake, exhaust?? My buddies and I graduated and have somewhat good jobs and all recently got a new car within a year of each other. One got a subaru legacy and one got a nissan altima and myself the protege. I'm the only one with a stick, definitely the smarter choice, however the legacy has the option of manually changing gears with the sport option. I don't know the specs on all of these vehicles but were planning on racing eventually. We're probably have it video taped and I want to win so mazda community help!! What are my options and best way to go about this as far as steps month by month. If there is already a forum about this, link????

THANKS!

if your lookin for performance out of it turbo is that way to go.. NA isnt much worth doin IMHO.. you want HP go with a snail

agreed.

you could probably eek out 10hp with all the bolt on NA mods unless you go high compression big bucks kinda stuff.

you can find a turbo kit in the 1G mark.

What kind of racing are we talking here - drag, road course, autocross? I ask because each of these requires a different definition of speed.

Unless of course you are talking about streetracing in which case I have some very different advice to give...
