CSRT4- MS3's arch nemesis? The new car *long post*

congrats! i dont like regular calibers, but the srts look really mean, and they can take a tonnes of hp with a few mods, unlike the speeds :(

Yeah that does indeed seem to be the case- there are a half-a-dozen guys around the 400whp mark on the Caliber forums. Pretty impressive!

i just saw an all blacked out one on my way home from work, with black rims/red lip, lowered. looked dead sexy!

Yeah they are 19's. There are some guys running wider 18's yeah. I'm looking to lower it next but am not sure if it'll require adjustable end-links for my Mopar Swaybars.

well, so far the srt is winning against the ms3 in my book

too bad for dodge i bought the ms3 because it came with xenons, and that i already loved the features from my previous mz3 sedan

I mean... you have to take into account other things than speed. Of course, the people on forums would be more inclined to compare them in that way... but I don't want to beat the long dead horse here. I would still rather have my MS3 than a CSRT-4.

I agree with your assessment and I would not trade my MS3, for a CSRT-4.

you gotta change your avatar.
Indeed I do! :)

Yes, they are a better platform for reliable power where as the Mazda has the edge in chassis, fit n' finish, and interior quality.

19's, yeah lol
Yes they are pretty extreme- very heavy I'd assume too!

Yeah- I don't think we'll be seeing any 11-second stock block Mazdaspeeds around- however not everyone owns the car sheerly for straight-line performance. However that's IS one of the large reasons for ownership for me- that....and functionality/space/daily-drivability.

Having owned both- I can say for certain if you bought the MS3 for it's luxo/technology appointments you will not be happy with the Caliber SRT4. Keep in mind what they are based off of- compare a standard Mazda3 against a standard Caliber. The Mazda3 is in another league completely (that's when straight line performance and power aren't in the forefront of the comparison- as it is with their base counter-parts) When I hear creaks and rattles I have to keep reminding myself I'm essentially driving one of Dodges cheapest cars- but with a powerful engine and turbo. It's not as much of a complete package as the MS3- but it is king at the drag-strip and highway pulls.

Good to see, that you are cool about the opinions. Civilized discussions are the best!(2thumbs)

F#$K THAT! (fu) I love me a good thrashing of ideas and telling everyone that they are idiots.... When I type my posts everything I type is right and everyone else is wrong! IGNORANCE FTW!

Bahahahahahahahaha..... Sadly this ^^^^^ is true for some people

Thats one of the few dodges that I would consider buying..if I would have looked into it before the speed3, then yeah I would have been driving one for sure...but i've just always been into Japanese/German cars.

ditto, well and the Magnum SRT8. I have a thing for hatches/wagons.

lol- I immediately thought of the Seinfield episode:

I look at a CSRT-4 and an MS3 everyday im home! My 08.5 MS3, and my moms Red 08 CSRT lol. Never knew some of the interesting facts about the CSRT though as a bunch of you guys posted. I always toyed with her telling her that my car is faster, which it is 1/4 mile wise, but never realized above 100 she would walk me.

As for looks and such, I feel as though Dodge could have done a little better with their interior. Feels plasticy and cheap to me. I love though how the Tripometer displays 1/4, 1/8 mile times, g-forces, braking distances, and all 4 wheel psi's. Her shifter feels huge in my hand, not liking that either.

Exterior wise, I've always like the way that they look. The 19's with the engraved SRT just set off the car. The FMIC through the grill makes me angry because my MS3 should have came stock with one also lol. I keep threatening im going to steal it on her. I think the rear window could be a bit bigger as well. And a better handle/button for the hatch release. Maybe Im just picky though!

Also, is the clutch pedal spring loaded? Everytime I drive it, i hear a clicking when I shift, and either slip in or let off. Like its clicking and springy. Maybe its just me or something with the pedal itself.

If I can soon, Ill take pics of the cars side by side and post up. Photo comparison of everything for anyones viewing pleasure!
