What have you done to your P5 today?

Lewis, I like the JDP. I am leaning more and more that way all the time because, like you, I can't afford to spend $300 on an MSP splitter (though I want to SO BADLY). Thanks for doing the legwork on this for us!

Installed the 'rain guard' on the hood. It's a piece of galvanized steel that I sprayed with 2 coats of Rustoleum primer followed by 2 coats of Rustoleum gloss black. I'll be able to relax now when it rains.

Just have to align a few of the holes for a perfect fit.

did you sand the galvanized steel before you painted it?
i painted some the other day without sanding it too much and it just flaked right off lol
that was dumb by me though

No, but did rub both sides down with vinegar. I was told this would remove the oils and the paint would adhere w/o sanding.

Love that hood, the only ones that i can find like that have vents on the sides and I dont like that. Where did you find that one?

Not too bad of shape I actually could have just clear coated it.I'ma getting it painted the same color of the car and filling in the hole's of some gay hood pin's it had.

You're just paranoid. Never used the "rain-guard" on mine thru the last 2-3 years and not a problem. Only time you need to use it is during the winter because snow is f'in heavy on the mesh in the vents... Those prongs that hold the mesh in are not very strong.

Unless you're wiring harnesses were ran by a 6 yr old, it doesn't matter. (2thumbs)

Whats the point of having a vented hood if it can't vent?

Maybe but considering 1/2 of my SRI filter was exposed thru the vent I'd rather be safe than sorry. And I only closed up one side so the other vent is 'functional'.

The mesh is actually aftermarket that the previous owner (bazooka joe) had cut to fit and powder coated. So top of hood is one layer of mesh with cover plate and the 'rain guard' is attached underneath. As for winter, the hood will be swapped with my stocker. ;)

I agree...it is a much cheaper upgrade...also, you could of done a DG lip, but while staying in a budget you would most likely not of had money to paint it, so this is a good alternative...turned out good...my JDP CF one is getting painted here soon anyways...

Well, a lot of cats have the DG lip and I wanted to be a little unique. Plus, no offense to anyone, but it looks a little bulbous to me.

Why are you painting your CF lip? CF is so sweet in its natural colour! Especially with everyone wrapping that 3M fake stuff on everything now. But the MSP lip and JDP splitter is, by far, my favorite front end. Especially yellow. Your P5 is pretty kick-ass, mate.

O, well move your filter out of the way! lol I wouldn't want it raining directly on my filter either, thats bad news. One corner of my maf sticks out under the vent, but thats it. I will say that my header is not the prettiest which I'm sure has been exacerbated by the rain, etc that constantly hits it.

Lol...so true...as for the CF...it does look great, but with everyone now getting the JDP urethane splitter there are a lot more with it and it is going to be something you see more of, so instead I am going to paint match mine so that it doesn't look like all the others...thanks for the compliment...

Had I kept my SRI for a manual I wouldn't have the issue as the filter would be tucked behind the DS head light. But then I would still have the issue with the filter interferring with the lo-beam bulb. It's always something. lol

turbo question.. i picked up a intercooler and piping for a small penny... and i was wondering the piping it has is like 2 inches... lol.. on my old setup my intercooler pipes were about 2.5ish..... is 2 inches to small to run?

hmm.....what about on the intake side? lol.... ( we both know i need to pull my motor and tear it down before i go boost again.... im going to have to wait on forged internals.... :-( ** sad face **
