What have you done to your MSP today?

yes cracked mani soon to be replaced(i hope)

and i installed the arp why do you ask?
No particular reason, I have them too. just noticed that you had them but were very stock set up.
Just FYI that's basically the cost of a new one but I paid the same lol.

My dreams are crushed :(

Maybe I should look into getting one custom made. I don't need a 3" if it will cost an arm and a leg, but I'm sure I could get an improvement from an upgrade.
It shouldn't cost you as much as you think, even at a shop. Do you autox at all or know about the most local region to you? Chances are there is someone there that is a near master eff'in welder and helps people out with welding. It is a life saver and easy to find someone of that stature.
hopefully i will be getting my hands on a thunder mani here soon
Make sure it's a version 2 or reinforced version 1. Been there done that too.

im pretty sure its a reinforced version 1. and i was missing the two studs closest to the ps pump, so i replaced them with arp studs. one fell out in the past 24k miles though so idk if i can order just one stud and bolt

well im just curious cause im trying to guestimate on how much i will be charged for it. whats a reasonable price for a v1 that is re-enforced?

In my opinion, $280 for a version 1, but then again I was tainted by yet another product shearing in half well before it's day. I've tried out almost every combination of parts available to these cars short of exhaust systems. I have only had Vibrant which I got on the very first GB after the prototype and fell immediately in love with it, desiring no other.

+1 on lovin Vibrant exhaust... what do you think about trying to port out a stock s-pipe?

EDIT: Just noticed... this was my 1,000th post. WOOT!

Congrats, I am nearly 7.5x ahead, but I certainly am slower these days. Age gets to us all.

At one time I was considering sending my oem s-pipe off to extrude hone which I believe would have been the best route for porting this type of cast piece, but the cost rivaled that of the CS piece and I truly do not think that the power exchange is worth it. Now I know there is a lot to argue with the theory of it, but I don't think our s-pipe is as bad as everybody makes it out to be. They say you cannot feel what?... .like a 7-8 hp gain, so ask yourself if that amount of gain is worth the cost. I felt nothing from the addition of a 2.5" s-pipe to mate with my Vibrant. I run 10psi daily and have plenty of supporting mods and felt nothing from it. It broke, I had it replaced, sold it immediatly and replaced my high flow with a 3" electric cutout with the money. Let me tell you about feeling a difference. That's the power adder right there, loss the cat. I was fortunate and never threw a CEl, no visual inspection for emmisions back in the day so I was good. Visual inspection now which sucks balls. I am working on an s-pipe of my own design now (no time frame or intent to try to mass produce at this time), which is divorced and should flow nicely. I hope it'll kick ass, only time will tell. I have too many mods waiting to go on the car and I am looking to Frankenstein my exhaust even further.

I think i found out the problem to my problem. Spoke to a few friends tonight. I think i might have warped the head. When my car was overheating a few weeks back, i drove the car when it was on "H" for a good 10 min.
And now the car is having the problems when its been driven for a good while and at high rpms. Im going to try taking it a shop and have them inspect it to see if its warped. Tomorrow ill check the coolant to see if theres any oil in it. And ill do an oil change to see if theres any coolant or if its milky looking. If its warped im going to need another head and i might aswell upgrade the internals while the engine is apart. So it all depends now...

Especially a good idea to rebuild the lower end since coolant + oil wreaks havoc on bearings.

I had my alt/water pump belt snap off a few months ago. Had to drive it about 2 miles to a shop like that, eyeballing the temp gauge the entire time. Thing is, without the pump flowing coolant through the block I'm not certain how accurate the gauge was. I made myself park the car whenever the gauge hit medium and let it sit (it was 0 degrees out, so that helped).

I'm super paranoid about running any car hot. My first tuner car (Mitsubishi Starion) warped or cracked the head super easily whenever it got hot :(

^^Ive been thinking about getting that CS downpipe. I know how u feel. Whenever ur about to finish up with something. Something else pops up. Oh well. Gotta love the car right.

Oh yeah, gotta love the nature of the beast. I love the MSP..except for the problems that come up, coolant leaks, exhaust leaks, squeaky suspension, the clunk, and you guys know the rest. I have debated moving to a faster platform but at the end of the day, I still have it. It's just a matter of time before it's built though.

i did this to my car last night...hit a damn deer....fml

My dad had a Starion! He still has the pictures. He says it was the squirreliest car he ever owned, but would prolly have made a great drifter, since it was so easy to break the back end loose.

I HATE DEER!!! ******* FOUR LEGGED TERRORISTS!!!

Sorry to hear man. Is most of the damage cosmetic only?

i couldnt get the hood open, but my radiator and smic are dented inward toward the engine. my ac was on and i could hear a humming rattling noise after i hit it, and it seems to be leaking oil at the moment. im scared to find out exactly whats wrong. insurance person is coming out monday.

Awesome! Yeah, you can kick the rear end out on the drop of a hat, but it was easily controlled. The later models with SHP package had 9" rear wide wheels, so that helped. I've owned three of those cars, and they were by FAR the most finnicky, love/hate car I've ever owned. Far, far, far worse than the MSP (gah)

HID's DDMtuning 6k slim ballast installed, radar detector hardwired, sub.amp adjusted alittle and timing belt tightened :).... as for natures car terrorist..... :( msp down for the count for now sorry to hear lexus806

I just ordered a HKS BOV its the SSQV V3 btw and a universal flange. I am about to order new intake manifold, throttle body gaskets, New pipes for my new hard pipe kit, MAF relocation kit and install my 505zoom intake manifold, and perrin fuel rail. I also have to get that flange welded on to my pipes.

Speaking of BOV's, I just installed my FMIC with another HKS SSQV and I noticed on the test drive that I was reading about 5 psi. I just installed a new boost gauge since the last one was reading +1 psi when the car was off. Though at full boost the old gauge would read about 9 psi with my SMIC setup. Does the FMIC really drop it that much or could the BOV be a little too tight and be holding me back? I'm not sure if that's possible or not.
