thepope540's KLDE swap / build thread

ha - im surprised you paid to get the blue switched on when you dont have any parts yet haha. good thinking with the KL, and i might have to get at you for some of your MS resources in the future

I won't be posting an MS guide because there have been so many twists and turns as I worked to get things figured out that I think a guide showing what I've done would be more of a problem than a help. If anyone needs help or info I'd be happy to supply what I've learned over the last couple months. If you need any specific info feel free to pm me.

Have you ever looked at what it would take to run a KLZE in a MSP ? That's something I'm truly interested in. Either way, this looks awesome !

Its the exact same block / install. The only differences between the DE and ZE are the pistons, heads, and cams. I want boost so I'm going with the lower compression DE.

i think iv'e read somewhere that ze's are more prone to dropped valves than the de too.
don't really see the point of importing a klze unless your staying na really. need a bunch of electronic goodies to go with it and the cost would get pretty high. especially coming from a non v6 car to begin with.

still looking forward to this build. I don't know if ill do this myself or just build a fs, but i might come harrass you for some mega squirt tips as i might go this route with a pre-assembled board.

I'd have to buy another car for the time my car is down. I'm dreaming.
thats why im waiting to put the kl i bought in my car during the summer. No school to work around. Just have to work around work. Which i can take off from

All you have to do is get better keepers

Clutch, Wideband, FD wheels, Megasquirt, and some millenia S injectors are all on their way! I'm hoping for a big install weekend on the 27th and 28th. I still need to get a new diff ordered and I think I'm going to order some headers. There has been a little change in plan: :)

This isn't mine, but is what I have in mind:

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! I want now!

ME TOO. I can't wait. My truck has been reliable, but its ugly, rude and crude. I drive my wife's 9-2X and it just makes me want my car back on the road that much more. One plus to being a teacher is that spring break is coming and I'll finally have some time to put in the hours to get this thing back on the road. It will initially be NA with a simple intake and headers going to a stock MSP exhaust. Then I'll add the SC and maybe change out the catback portion (but I doubt it) 2.25" should flow well enough and I think it will give it a stealthy mean sound rather than an in your face loud tuned sound - not that it would be bad, but I have a 12 month old to think about.
