Honestly I didn't even attempt to read this whole thread but I think it would be neat to fabricate a mount for an iPad. Make it out of PVC or something not too hideous. If I ever impulsively purchase one then I will make a mount and do a how to...I can practically smell the flaming to be had..

truthfully, they are. you can get a wifi only unit or get the 3G and wifi unit later. but they charge an asinine amount for the 3G feature. $130 for a 3G antenna? yeah, thats not markup. i could just sign up for a 3G data plan and get the USB 3G dongle from three different carriers in my area and plug it in to ... oh wait, i can't, the iPad has no USB ports. guess i'll have to settle for paying less for a 3G plan and antenna I can use on all my various laptops or that super sweet Windows tablet i posted than paying **** for being able to use it on one iPad. oh the inequity of it all!

I already have an MTS chain (2 XD-16s, LC-1, LMA-3) so I'll be adding this and a cheap itouch/iphone when I get around to it. (still have tons of other stuff to do to my ride.)
