HID's what color?

So this is probably a pointless thread, but seeing as I don't have a bunch of different HID colors in front of me, I'll ask you guys. I'm going for a "blackout" effect on the car tint/tails/headlights/emblems/wheels/etc. Considering how dark the car is I'm leaning towards a 10k or 12k HID for more of a blue-ish/purplish hue.

What do you guys think? Anyone have pictures of their Black hatch with HIDs?

Dead thread, I ended up ordering a 12k set from DDM. Waiting on their arrival. Bought the Raptor set with regular size ballast (lifetime warranty). At 40$/pair shipped I can get the 10ks if I don't like the 12k lol.

Where do you live that you can use 12k's without worry? Hell even at 6k I'm going to be a bit weary, and the police in my area aren't that bad. Can't wait to order them though, I'm also getting my set through DDM.. Their prices can't be beat.

Houston. I honestly could care less. Tons of cars have 12k around here and don't get pulled. A lot of them are factory so they really don't say anything. I guess it just depends on the cop and whether he had his donuts or not. I'm not too concerned. I'll probably get a 8k or 10k as a backup, just in case.

i have 8000k's in my car, florida legal limit, but i reside in PA for college, i just aimed my lamps down pretty low so that it doesnt piss people off, except when it reflects off of a wet road:D

Wary, not weary. Weary means tired.

We have 12k's all over the place. If I get a ticket, I get a ticket. I'm not overly concerned with it. But as a backup, I'm getting an 8K set in case I run into problems.

Do you care at all about other drivers?

Yes, actually I am. Which is why my projectors will have a down angle to them and if need be, I'll build a cutoff into the assembly.

I'm already test-fit the lights and they point more towards the road than straight ahead. At least on the 2nd gens that's what I'm seeing. I threw a 6K set in mine and they are actually brighter than the 12K. 5-8K are typically brighter from what I've researched. 10-12K doesn't have the lumen output as the lower temp ranges.

Dont worry about the cut off problem. The stock projectors provide extremely good beam shaping and the cutoff is usually right where the license plate is for most family sedans, you wont have to worry about excessive glare for other drivers.

AS for the color temperature go, Human eyes are more adapted to lower color temps (sunlight in a sunny day is about 3500K). For best illumination, 4000-5000K is the choice. anything over, IMHO , just yell "rice" and yield poor illumination result.

I think 12k is a bit much in terms of visibility (rather a bit too little)... But hey I've seen the purple 12ks in person and it doesn't look as bad as I thought.. The only thing is that you can't see sh*t lol
