What have you done to your MSP today?

Took a look for my exhaust leak and tried to change the swaybar bushings this weekend. Got neither done. As I mentioned before, I thought maybe a bolt was loose or something on the left-side of my exhaust manifold. Well, lo-and-behold, here is what I found:

No idea how that happened since I've never touched those bolts since I've owned the car. I need to get it tapped out and replaced. Called mazda and they said they only charge 30mins of labor per bolt, but "who knows how many can break while we try to get the manifold off." Who wants to put money down that several "mysteriously break" while they do it?

As for the swaybar bushings, I'm curious as to how people have replaced the front ones without dropping the front subframe? I took a look and its hella tight in there. Did Mazda NOT do any long-term testing to see how hard it would be to replace them and how long they actually last? I guess it was mighty cold in Japan when they designed that, cause their heads were FRIMLY up their asses for the warmth...

that doesn't surprise me, that same exact bolt broke on my exhaust mani a while back along with several others

Really? Were you torquing it at the time or did it just... break? I thought maybe the previous owner torqued it wrong for some reason, because I've never touched it. Wonder if this breaking saved my mani from becoming cracked?

Also I wonder how much power I'm losing from the leak...?

Msp wasnt not running well today. I tried coming around a car and i think i shortshifted the car bogged a good bit. I heard a pop from the exhaust, turkey blew and it jerked. I was like (shocked) Really hard to explain. But i really need to get a proper tune.

I've been getting that lately... I think its probably a boost spike, causing the car to go REALLY lean and hit fuel-cut. No way to know unless you're looking AT your boost gauge when it happens. For me I think its the cold air confusing the crap out of my car...

Mine too likes to bogg frequently, I hate it. It started once it started to get under 70*, it was even doing it on the new motor for the few days I got to drive it.

these cars are not cold weather friendly. its like we all have to relearn this every year lol. actually, to be honest, I'm really happy with how I'm running, but I'm on 5 lbs of boost. I think being on the SSAFC is going to screw that up for me though. LOL

what'd the packs and wires run ya?

Actually, I think I kinda stole 'em. I bought them from Jen (Metallic36) when she did her part out. She bought them new but never installed them. IIRC, I paid $85 del'd for both the coil packs and blue NGK wires.

Hey now, this is my first winter with the car. Anything else I need to know about before I s*** myself again when the car decides to do something else strange and scary?

sometimes when the air is very dry and cold it will sound like it is overboosting but it is not, its just the cold dense air
