2010 MS3 Taillight Tint

Heres mine... STILL waiting for it to warm up so I can go outside and install them... (jerkit)

Those looks really nice. I really should have them pull the lights and wrap them like you did. Wrapping them while on the car leaves all sorts of potential for problems like with what happened to mine.

Why don't you just send me yours and I'll send you mine back lol

I put on 2 hoodies and manned up... Sorry for the dark cell phone shots but I'll take some nice ones when my cars clean with my digi cam

workin on it... too cold for my ass to sit out there with fishin line and tug away. The mazdaspeed emblem is comin off and staying off. The "M"s are going black asap

Not sure what process you're going to use, but I'm going to use Plasti-dip on mine. Works wonders and is bullet-proof.

Tails look awesome!

Thanks =)

Plasti Dip? Never heard of it, but I'll look into it tonight on google. I was going to hit them with some satin black via rattlecan but I know over time it will chip.

If you're going for the Satin Black, definitely grab some plasti-dip. It's a spray mixed with a rubber adhesive and a black paint that is strong as hell. I got the idea from a bunch of VW friends of mine. You can find it at Home Depot for 5.99/can.

Steps:
1.) Sand with 400 grit
2.) Sand with 800 grit
3.) Clean them with alcohol
4.) Spray 2-6 very light coats of Plasti-dip allowing adequate dry time
5.) Let them sit a few hours or flash them in the oven at ~200f for 30 min.
6.) Reapply.

I'm doing them at work this week since I'll have a place to spray. Living in an apartment is not very paint-friendly.

Ps. I PM'd you about some stuff if you get a chance to reply. Thx!

Thanks for the info. PM replied. Home Depot is my favorite toy store (rockon)

Hey darkspeed, is the process reverseable? Like if a cop gives you 48 hours to get it back to oem can you?

I could peel them off on the spot if needed. Film is not permanent. It will not come off unless you deliberately peel it off, which takes some good pulling but it comes off.

ok, i'm certain i'm going to do this but i have 2 ways, need your guys opinion:

1) get the LED tails and LIGHTLY smoke the clear areas (the way you guys have it done is too dark and attracts too many cops IMO)

2) put red tint over the stock tail lights and call it a day, similar to the SEMA mazdaspeed

btw i have a black mica...
