ABSOLUTELY!! (headbang)

225/40/18 rubber is about as wide as you'd want to go on the RX-8 rims, though.

^^^Yep. If your lowered, with or without a fender roll, on stock suspension and lowered etc, the tire choice/size will be the most critical issue in your case.
