Anyone having problems with shocks/struts?

^ curious myself. I tried to look up more post by jcrystal and didn't see anthing about a group buy. Wondering how much this is going to cost me.

Also, I heard that the shocks in the rear are managable, but not so much on the front? Something about risking my life with the springs or something blowing threw me... true?

You need a pair of spring compressors. I borrowed a set through the local auto parts store`s free tool loaner program. Just take it slow and easy and you won`t have any problem. There is a good writeup in the how-to section.

I had my front struts replaced under warranty in October but I will be looking into the FSDs in the future because I am sure the rears will go soon.

I also do not recommend attempting the spring sway on the front struts unless you have an impact handy. If not, take the assembly to a shop and have them do the spring swap.

An impact wrench would be nice, but it isn`t needed. Unless you`re a girly man, a breaker bar will suffice. Just allow enough time. If you`ve never done it before, it will take longer than you expect. I also don`t recommend doing it in your driveway in 100 degree heat, not that anybody would be that dumb...

LOL Im not saying that because of a strength issue. I assure you I am plenty strong. Just yesterday I was able to bench press 95lbs. Twice.

The real reason i suggested that is because of the rental spring compressor from autozone is a PITA to do by hand.

True. That`s one of the reasons I said to allow plenty of time. Cranking a spring compressor by hand is time consuming, and if you aren`t careful (as in hurrying because you didn`t allow enough time) it can slip off with disastrous, not to mention painful, results.

koni's = lasting quality
mazdas = replace me again in 2 years(if your lucky)

Biggest issue is that I just don`t have the cash right now. One of our dogs had kidney failure in late October. What was I going to do, tell the wife, "No honey, you can`t spend all our cash trying to save your much loved pet`s life"? Two grand later the dog is dead and we`re rebuilding the cash account.
I`m just glad she didn`t try to tap the 401k.

What group buy? Is that on another site? I didn`t notice it.

been there

and revisited the place

at least we treat pets better than relatives

(google) I was looking up how hard it would be to do the shocks and struts and then brakes and it seems "seems" pretty easy! But love to see a step by step thing!
