Anyone use this or something like it?

Don't think I'd trust my engine with that. you have to get down there anyway to change the oil...mind as well use a socket and take the drain plug out like normal.

It looks like a good idea to me! The great thing about that is that you can run the hose to that little access hole on the under tray and not have to take that on and off all the time.

I'd be a little concerned about using this. It doesn't take THAT long to remove the oil pan drain bolt anyway. I'd be concerned about this failing and ruining my engine, all just to save a few mins on an oil change.

Why would you worry about it failing? It's a simple 90* open/shut valve. There isn't anything that would just suddenly fail on it.

okies..prabaly stick with my reg ol setup...it looked promising with the all brass valve with simple 90 degree turn.

Every one I've seen used sooner or later, starts to leak. Options are straight replacement at that time.

and that's the key..."starts to leak". You would be able to tell if it was leaking quite easily without damage to your engine. Figure each one is 25 bucks and every 3-4 years you have to get a new one. Not too bad if you do all your own oil changes and don't have a lift at your disposal. Just my .02

True, but you can remove and re-install the stock drain plug many times and it should last the life of the car as long as it isn't cross-threaded or anything like that. I agree that this valve would make oil changes easier, but it also complicates a simple operation of removing a hole that is plugged by a bolt under no pressure. I wouldn't like knowing that I would have to replace this piece after 3-4 years and the only way to tell it's failing is the pool of oil underneath your car one morning.

I had the Fumotos on my RX-8 and my wife's Trooper, and I've been thinking about getting one for my 3. I loved them - oil changes were quicker and not as messy. I didn't have either vehicle for three more years, so I can't deny or confirm whether they begin to leak that soon. However, having seen them up close and personal, I would need to have someone say 'I had one for three years and it started leaking' to believe it. (Darth said 'sooner or later' - not sure where that exactly falls, having owned one of my vehicles for 17 years ;))
