Did anyone test drive MKV R32 before MS3?

Hmmm, DSG or a real manual... eeeeasy choice.
well... not really... DSG kicks ass...

but forgetting about tranny I was hoping to hear about how car actually feels.
heavy? fun to drive.. that kind of response.. I will test drive one soon

i have driven a 2007 or 08 not sure...
its a fun lil bugger in sport mode but coming from the ms3 you will notice the difference in power. awd is fun but it almost doesn't handle as well as the ms3 IMO...

but it is a pimp car and very comfortable so if you are looking fit and finish wise its a winner.

flame on bitches! hahaha

Hrm... I like the MKIV R32 better than the MKV, only for the fact that it comes in a traditional manual.

Pros? Better launch, awesome exhaust note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du2LgH2dxAo

Cons? Heavy, pricey, still not as quick as the cheaper MS3

I really like them, never considered one though... (although I was soooo close to getting a GTI instead).

drove an MKIV R32 before the MS3. Not your MKV, but it was still sweet. Sounds awesome, and I love the way they look. Being that its german, its a bit higher quality than our cars, and it has AWD. Like Saskathewan said, its expensive, and not quite as fast as our car, however it was a hell of a lot of fun...

there is a chance I would need to get auto that's why I see only Gti/R32 (from what I like); DSG is great - this is actually the only auto (if you can call it that way) tranny I would consider. I test drove GTI with both stick/DSG - stick was more fun but DSG was freaking fast shifting and having sport mode you can hold it on lower gear as much as you want (not that you want since 2.0t is pretty torqueeeee too)

but R32 has heavy nose as I would assume.. V6.. I really dont like the layout under the hood - no space at all - I know you need to pay for V6/AWD goodies under etc.

interior build quality is far better in both GTI/R32. hands down.. but this is not smth you want to compare to directly since diff ppl search for diff stuff and expect diff things from the car.

I love the fact it is AWD thats why I don't really consider GTI.
MS3 is the last semi-performance FWD car I bought (really miss RWD)

Like I said I'm gonna test drive R32 maybe next week or later and see how flexible sellers would be. I'm not gonna pay 25k for R32.. I'd rather refinance my MS3 and for diff get smth like P5 with auto... just don't really want to have second car..

I honestly like shifting the gears myself. I don't care how high-tech and quick DSG is, I'll take a traditional stick any day.

So you are looking for an auto/dsg or whatever car?

I was always a stick guy.. I hear ya.. and I don't mind playing with MS3..
but it is not really about me.. my GF she does not drive stick and even if she would I won't like her driving MS3.. for reasons..

DSG is the only choice since I would be driving too and I can't stand classic auto trannies at all.. on other hand I'm not sure how solid DSG is for the long run.. maintenance cost? considering design it may be crazy and this is not smth I can take apart in my garage change syncros/reseal etc and enjoyanother thousands of miles. I do not believe/trust in warranty s*** much.. I'd rather have smth I can fix/simple design etc etc; buying expensive black box is a little scary for me.

What about an evo x mr? Lol
Has awd, more power, its own version of dsg, and way lighter than an r32. Just another option.
GL with choosing

I wish ))

** to be honest evo is just too hard for my back/spine for DD; test drove GSR a year ago.. started to collect my teeth after short drive on Chi town roads :/
like a track car - great.. but I'm not banging paris to afford one. plus for that price you can build much better track car anyway. not saying it would be so much more fun to do that just race already boxed car..

If you miss rwd, what about an older M3 with its smg tranny
never drove smg.. only e46 m3 on stick.. freaking faast
BUT:
- maintenance cost is crazy (eur car sucks living not in EU..)
- considering model age impossible to find low mileage non-beaten one (I was looking for one before my G35)
- not a car for a girl to drive
- price

**saying miss RWD means next car I get for myself would be RWD or maybe AWD.. in this case it is not much about me :/

An R32 is definitely a fun car and feels very planted, and not jittery like the MS3. Obviously part of that is the AWD, but it also has a much more tuned suspension.

Speed is about equal with a MKV GTI and noticeable slower than an MS3.

Looks are subjective, but I MUCH prefer the MKIV over the MKV R32. If I had to put looks in order it would go as follows: MKIV R32 > Gen1 MS3 > MKV R32 > Poop on a stick > Gen2 MS3.

Lastly, exhaust note on the MKIV/V R32 is SEX! One of the best sounding 6-cyls out there currently. If I could listen to that exhaust note everyday of my life, I would never need a gf again.

Ugh, brings me back memories of my 24V VR6, it sounded great. I didn't even have anything done to it, but I loved the stock sound.

The 12V sounded better IMO. There are few cars that sound better @ WOT than a 12V VR6 with a K&N filter.

I bought a couple of new VW's back in the late 90's and had major problems with both. Wouldn't by another based on the treatment from the dealer and VWNA. Speed 3 is more reliable and no issues as of yet other than the squeaks when its really cold out.

You might consider adding some sound deadening to the Speed3 to give it the same solid feel as the VW, especially in the doors.
