Interior swap - My 2010 MS3 for your 2010 3GT interior?

So, I figured I'd ask before I go down the more expensive route, but I've decided I just don't want the Mazdaspeed "design" seats, doors, and dash pieces any more. Is anyone interested in swapping all or just a few pieces?

I'd be interested!

Oh wait. I have an MS3 too. :) I also would love to have a GT interior...the only red stuff I want to keep from the MS3 is the stitching.

LOL, we have the same car (Black Mica Tech). I thought I would get used to it, and I do notice it less now that before, but I like the GT stuff much better.

The first thing I'd like to swap is the two dash pieces. . .the silver breaks up the dash better and looks nicer in my opinion.

I figured this was an exercise in futility, but worth a shot. . .

Think the 07-09 seats would fit in there? That would be a nice mod too. I hear the 2010 seats aren't that spectacular. Any truth to that?

I think the 2010 seats are fine, but I forget what the gen 1 seats were like.

Guess I need to go talk to an upholstery shop or something. . .see what they say.

Almost makes me wish I had bought a red MS3, as the seats look better on a red car (in my opinion).

I don't mind the silver, but I really preferred the piano black trim in the 08.5-09 Speed3. I think that would look stellar...if it was available (in fact I'd love to replace all the silver trim with it). And actually, of all the red-dotted stuff in the interior, I find the dash pieces the least cheesy-looking. I agree though, the interior bits bother me less now than they did at first, but I'd still like to put some classier-looking stuff in there. A friend of mine knows a guy who does upholstery...I may have to look into what he'd charge to recover the seats in full leather, or at least some better looking (and better quality) cloth.

In my opinion, yes, there is truth to that. I have thought about looking into a 1st gen seat swap, actually; I loved the 1st gen MS3 seats. I like the 2010's, but they're not quite as comfortable, and the cloth material pales in comparison to both 1st gen GT variations. Also, I really dig the embroidered 'MAZDASPEED' logo on the seatbacks. I was disappointed that they decided to get rid of those in favor of the silly red pattern.

Anyone want to trade there black alcantara seats for a set of 2010 seats? I'd trade in a heartbeat (if they fit)

Where do you live?

I can't recall what they are like, but I'd be very tempted if I could do a full interior swap. . .the rest of the interior stuff would make up for the "lesser" seats. . .now you have me thinking of that too.

The grass seems greener eh? Well it does for me too, I'm thinking of taking you up on that offer beavis.. I've got a Black Mica 2010 S Sport, and after driving that for a little over a month, I test drove a 2010 Speed 3 and I must say I liked the design a little better then my own.

Where in IL do you live? If it's anywhere close maybe we can meet up and make our decision in person?

I live in Plainfield, so I'm close. I'll PM you my number.

So, for those interested in doing the dash piece swap, here's some info.

The silver pieces from the Mazda 3 GT (a VIN I had) that work on the Mazdaspeed 3 are:

BBM4-55-320A "Panel Center" List Price $43.65 (this is the driver side)
BBM4-55-150A " Panel Decoration" List Price $60.80 (this is the passenger side)

Of particular interest is the fact that the driver side snaps on very securely (four clips on the small piece), but does pop off with the right amount of force. There are no metal clips or other pieces, the clips are molded as part of the panel. The passenger side is easier to get off, but the very end (by the door) has a screw in it. DO NOT try to pull the whole panel off on it is own. If you pull out on the lower dash (peel back the rubber that seals the door area to the dash), you can pull the dash out enough to get a very small tool in there to take the screw out (I have a little ratcheting bit set that does the trick, but worst case you can use a little phillips drill bit head with a combination wrench).

Anyway, that's the story. I'm happy with the look and now if anyone is interested in the red Mazdaspeed dash pieces, I have both of them available for sale!

Now to work on the rest of the interior!

Congrats on swapping, sorry I couldn't get around to trading with you sooner. I'm still interested in the speed3 pieces, how much do you plan on selling them for?

There is still time. . .I figure the swapped pieces would still be easy to move or you could of course sell them to someone else without much trouble. . .

As for the speed3 pieces, my thought for "used" is to just start at about half price. So, That is maybe $55 in this case if you want to buy them. You're local, so no shipping and I'll even help with the install. I'd still be willing to swap them for free though. Then I'd just sell them here (someone has to want them and I've already shelled out the cash).

Sold, if you don't mind me getting them after x-mas. A little tight on cash and time until then. I MIGHT be able to work something out next week but I kind of doubt it.
