Anybody using D2 Coilovers?

Local guy said he could get me a set cheaper then BC coilovers so I figured i'd check their site out. They look pretty damn good in my opinion. http://www.d2racing.com/

Is anybody currently using them? If so how do you like them?

I've heard about them too. I don't know anybody who has them but they do run cheaper than BC's and Megan Racing coilovers. I also heard they're made from the same material as them as well.

Yeah they seem pretty legit. I did a google search and read a couple reviews on some honda forums. Nothing but good reviews.

Maybe I should be the guinea pig for the mazdaspeed 3 haha

yea ive been wondering about these. i might try them in the summer. i have a buddy that has an 07 accord that is DUMPED on d2's. if they go lower than bc's then im gonna sell em and get d2's

They are s***, from what I've read and heard.

I'd never put them on my car, but I wouldn't put BCs on my car either... (dunno)

I can't find ANY good dynos for the dampers, and the reviews I've read that were written by knowledgeable suspension guys have all been pretty negative.

Here is some reading that you might find informative (I know this thread is from a Focus forum and doesn't provide any actual data regarding the D2s, but the information in it is still quite relevant and worth reading):

http://forums.focaljet.com/suspensi...nt-re-coilovers-budget-setups-particular.html

I have a similar thread over at one of the "other" MS3 forums, but out of respect for the rules here I'm not going to link to it...

I will, however, post up the Mazda-relevant stuff that I posted in that thread that ISN'T already in the Focus forum thread.

In the interest of bringing products more relevant to the MS3 market into this thread, I've searched to see what I can find regarding shock dynos for a few more brands:

Here's a plot for BC damper from a "BR Type" setup for an 8th gen Civic that were posted on another forum by a BC salesperson (note that this is only for one damper in each graph - 1 front damper and 1 rear damper - and for some reason one of the graphs is in metric units and one is imperial units, so making a judement about consistency across the dampers in a set cannot be made easily from these graphs):

And here's the thread I pulled it from (the thread was initially started as a discussion about a Stance setup):

Stance Coilovers Information - 8th Generation Honda Civic Forum

And for some contrast here are the dyno plots that KW has on their website that show the shapes of the damping curves and how they change with rebound and compression adjustment (I'm also trying to find some "independently obtained" shock dyno results for a KW setup as well right now):

Rebound:

Compression:

As you can see in the BC plots, there is really no compression damping adjustment to speak of, and the MINIMUM ratio of rebound:compression damping near mean velocity is roughly 2:1 (with an arguably useless 8:1 ratio at full stiff). It's no wonder people describe these things as bouncy/harsh, since the car is likely "jacked down" over sections of road/pavement with a series of small bumps and ends up riding on the bumpstops.

+1 They are s***. I've seen a set on a Mazda 3 blow on it months. 2 rear struts completely covered in fluid. Funny thing is we told him not to buy them, and he did anyway.

Buddy Club fits into the same category as Ksport, D2, Meghan Racing, etc, IMO.

Not something that would ever go on my car...

If you're gonna spend that much, you might as well buy some H&R/Bilsteins, KWs, or Mazdaspeed coilovers and get a real set of quality dampers in your kit.

I've heard of a few quality issues with D2. They are decent for the money, but there's a reason they offer just a 1 year warranty. IMO they are better than Omi, Meghan, and other taiwanese/chinese brands, but they are not intended for long term use. Here are a couple of threads unrelated to Mazda which may be of interest:

Thanks man. Most of the reviews I read on the D2's were first impression and nothing was reported on the reliability on them.

Super glad I came over and posted up a thread!
