With the weather cooling off, I've noticed the car is getting noticeably noisier inside, with panels making a lot of chatter in the car. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone, so I thought I'd start a little discussion about it.

Post up the general area, with pics if possible, sound (clunk, squeak, popping, etc), and any remedies you may have if you've fixed it.

Currently, I've got 3:
1 - Center of dash/windshield, popping noise, not sure how to fix yet. It may be behind the radio

2 - Drivers front door, near window switches, sounds like a rattling at higher speeds, no fix yet.

3 - Rear deck, rattling noise, no idea what might be the cause.

I'll update this later, but share your problems & results!

Steve, take a look at the BOSE emblem on top of the subwoofer grille for your rear deck rattling. I had a high-pitched rattle coming from the back that drove me nuts for a few months before a friend discovered that the little plastic logo was squirming around back there.

ive got the drivers side door rattle, and i also have a rattle on the left side steering wheel controls. ive brought it to mazda 2 times for it and they cant fix it :(

I have the same driver's side door rattle.. It gets on my nerves.. First day I heard it I check my doors to see if I had left something in the slots, then checked under my seats..

Thought I was going crazy.. Glad I'm not the only one this is happening to..

ive got rattling left of the steering wheel. i thought it was the air vent but dealer said they cant fix it. its geting louder so geting more annoying. why wouldnt the dealer know how to fix it?

My drivers seat is driving me crazy, and i fell like its not on well... like moves a bit :S

Count me in for driver's door rattle. It only does it when the window is down so I'm pretty sure a bracket is loose.

Have you checked the four mounting bolts on the frame rail? I'd start there.

I need to get some anti-rattle tape and start sticking it around the cabin, I'm sure I can quiet a lot of things down real quick.

Driver's door, steering column, and the bottom of the windshield. That last one comes and goes though.

Just got the rear deck rattle last night.. I'm about to take everything that I've put in the car (clothes, papers, etc.) out of my car that may cause a rattle and go from there..

The rear view mirror rattles inside. I replaced twice but not luck. Also the steering wheel rattle comes from the top of the left side controls. You have to put a piece of sponge behind it to stop the rattling.

I get a squeak from the armrest when I put my elbow on it sometimes, but usually it's quiet...I think the latch ends up in a funny spot or else it's a temperature expansion thing. Otherwise, nothing yet...but, the car is only two years old and has less than 12k miles on it, so there is plenty of time for it to start squeaking.

When I bought the car it had 44,xxx miles on it and as far as I could tell on smooth Texas roads, NO rattles whatsoever.

Within a week of getting it back to Michigan and driving around on our ridiculously crappy roads, I have a bad rattle in the overhead console (the bit with the sunroof controls and map lights), one that appears to be coming from the steering wheel airbag cover, one on the rear deck (bose emblem perhaps), and one that is coming from the passenger-side A-pillar.

Amazingly, I have none coming from the center console even though I've taken it apart several times to replace a couple of bulbs and install the Aux mod.

Time to get out some pencil erasers and sponges!

i had a steering wheel noise myself. actually i thought i was coming from the door. but it turned out to be the steering wheel.

how to fix it: theres two screws on the back side of the steering wheel. remove them. once they were off you can pull the cover off enough to put some gasket in there between the two pieces. that took care of the rattle for me. oh, you may want to unhook your battery first.

so if you got a rattle push down on your steering wheel when you hear it cuz it just may be the cover. hope this helps.

i have the seat squeak too. only when i accelerate and am pushed into it does it squeak. any ideas on this?
