3 Big/Annoying Problems with my 2010 M Sport

My 2 month old 2010 Mazda has had a wheel/tire vibration on the highway 100 KM or greater from day one. I've had the dealer change the tires, rims, and the problem still exists. I recently had a road force balance and they told me my front tires our out of round... Had anyone else had issues with the 17" stock Yoko tires?

Second problem is the back hatch has tons of rattles. I cant seem to pinpoint the location, I removed everything out of the back, the spare tire, BOSE sub, jack, and still hear it rattle over small bumps. Any ideas?

3rd issue,
I have an annoying dash/windshield creak that I hear, i know there was a TSB for previous generations (cowel) now that the weather is kinda cold in Canada i hear it on my 2010.

So far I have made several visits to the Mazda dealer and they have not been able to fix anything that I've mentioned. I want it fixed or I want Mazda to take this car back.

If anyone has any solutions on the problems I've indicated it would be great to hear of any solutions.

Thx
S

With my Mazda5, I had a tire vibration for a while. Dealer was worthless at fixing it. They'd say they aligned it, rotated them, balanced them, blah blah blah, but it would never go away. I figured they were probably flat-spotted somewhere so I just moved them to the heavier side of the car (the front), and over-inflated them by 5PSI for a few weeks. The problem actually went away, lol.

Thanks for the reply everyone! I took the car back again today to Mazda to address these issues. I had the Service Manager come out on a road test with me. I hear 2 sounds in the back, one is coming from the hatch the other sounds like a the jack is loose but in fact I removed it out of the car when I was trying to identify the noise. It could be coming from the suspension. I did notice that the back bumper is kinda flimsy and if you tap it it rattles it could be that too. Just image you have grocery bags in the back of the car, sounds like that......
Tires......just like Jeebusm said, worthless! They are telling me that since they replaced the tires already they have to go through yoko.....I did mention to the Service Mgr that I dont care what needs to be done I paid for a new car, I want it to be smooth on the highway. Its pretty sad that I have lost count on the amount of times I've had the car serviced. What really makes me mad is the fact that the wheels have been pulled off my car so many times there are scratches, chips on the rims....of course you know they will not do anything about that.
This evening I drafted up a letter and im going to send it to Mazda Canada registered mail. If they don't take care of this for me I am going to go through CAMVAP and get rid of this car. I want 4 proper tires that are in perfect condition and 4 new rims that are not scratched. I also want my suspension/rattle noises fixed. Is that to much to ask for ? probably yes.

That is totally ridiculous that your rims are all scratched up.

+1, also I can't believe the windshield rattle evolved into the 2010 model lol wtf Mazda....

There was an RSB along time ago for my 08 MS3, which the windshield clips required replacement. The rattle went away for the most part, but if its extremely cold out, I'll hear a slight rattle versus the really long lasting rattle on my daily commute. Not sure if anyone has done it themselves, but why? Just have the dealer fix it. Still think its gay that Mazda didnt even progress from that issue.

I have that rattle, it's a shame really, had a Mini Cooper S for 4 years and a half a didn't have a rattle to show for it... It's sad to think that only after a month, my Speed already has some noises of its own...

I've heard it very few times while driving normally, but I've heard it almost everytime I have to go up a "sidewalk" o step to drive into a building's parking lot. Since I don't want to scratch the lower front end of he car, I'll do it slightly sideways. That's when it comes, when only the right wheel has gone up, and the left one is starting to go up...

Regarding the noise in the back. I don't know if its the case or not, but I heard a rattle once or twice in my MS3. Went to the back, lifted everything to look at the spare wheel and I actually found a little plastic bag with the 4 "spare" wheel lugs (because I have the safety ones, compliments from my dealer). For the record, they have quite a lot of space to be rolling around in there...

Maybe you have the same thing??? They didn't even tell me they where there. If I hadn't found them myself, I probably wouln't have understood where that rattle came from.

Hope this helps...

Makes you feel better, i've recently starting hearing the creaking from the back somewhere by the hatch cover. Might be the cover, might not.

Also starting hearing something by the glove box as well.

As crazy as they drive you, getting used to them it almost a must. It's new now, but it will age and you'll hear more and more of them. The more you let it eat away at you, the more you'll hate the car for all the wrong reasons.

Don't forget that forums are for people to post their problems and hopefully find solutions to. Just log onto ANY car manufacturer forum and read their horror stories.....they all have'em, because nothing is perfect.

exactly. most folks complain when there is an issue, but hardly anyone posts "hey guys! just wanted ya'll to know that everything was great! Carry on!"

no noises yet in my 10 ms3. cept that clunk...

I think it has a lot to do with your surroundings and region you live in. I mean, when I bought my speed, I lived in a part of town with potholes and uneven pavement for days, and I'm about to hit 40k miles too so I do drive my car pretty extensively. As for creaks and stuff everywhere else, I'm actually pretty good with that. The windshield rattle was minor, but did kinda bother me so I got that taken care of. Otherwise, car is badass, I'm not dissin' it, just surprised that Mazda didn't fix THAT single issue going intot he 2010 models.

I'm the type who hates squeaks and rattles and my 08 MS3 has developed a couple of them around the driver's B-Pillar and the cargo cover. It's annoying yes, but I have to remeber that this is an economy car that is built to a price point. I saw one thread in another forum where a retired Ford engineer talked about having to take 6 months to exorcise rattle, buzzes and squeaks from Lincoln products. 6 months of time from a development perspective is a lot of cash. So it's no wonder that that would be one of the corners to cut on a inexpensive product.

Of course the MS3 is SOOOOO good- comparing favorably in performance and features to more expensive cars like BMW and Audi, that it's hard not to expect better NHV. I suppose with every revision they get better and refine particular aspects of the car. 2010 for example uses more High Strength Steel whihc probably cuts down on torsional forces that lead to plastic trims rubbing and "talking"

It's all about ROI. And why you pay under 25,000 for a car that has the performance of cars many times it's price. Form a development and cost perspective somethings gotta give and why you pay north of 40K for a BMW, Audi, Infiniti etc.
