Clutch Slippage???

Recently when driving WOT i noticed when shifting from 2nd to 3rd there was a prolonged delay of power. It occurred after the clutch was fully engaged. The first thing i thought it could be was the clutch slipping, however this would not make sense because this delay does not occur in any gears. Im going to adjust my clutch tonight to ensure that when the pedal is out, the clutch piston is all the way out. It feels exactly like clutch slippage, but it doesnt make sense. What else could this be???

Also in a completely unrelated issue, my clutch pedal has started to rip a large hole through the firewall. Every time I press the clutch all the way down, it slides into a hole that the clutch arm is creating by being pushed too far into the firewall. I took it to Mazda and they looked at it and told me "that's strange" and put felt padding over the hole. Now the arm has ripped through the two layers of felt mazda put down and the firewall, and is making contact with direct metal. Anyone experienced something similar?

Delay in Power under Wide Open Throttle

There are a couple on known issues for throttle delay in the MS6.

1: Engine knock, or ping, under WOT (heavy load) will cause the computer to pull the throttle back for a second before continuing acceleration. My details are sketchy on this, but I believe this is cured with new plugs or 1-step colder plugs. If you have any engine mods (increased HP) you should consider colder or otherwise appropriate plugs. Search forums for further info.

2: I took my mine into the dealership complaining of poor throttle response, and while no codes were showing any errors, they found a special oxygen/fuel sensor that the MS6 engine uses that was reading "a bit out of spec".
This was causing improper mixture and poor response under load. Potentially the above problem as well. They replaced it free under warranty and that fixed it.
*Note I had just put in new OEM plugs. 40K mi.

Thanks for the info. Im ordering new spark plugs soon anyway. Im beginning to think this is a transmission problem because it is occurring only in one gear

flat foot shifting :)

i noticed this lag too but that seemed to be normal. even with a brand bew clutch.

It's not just a lag. The engine makes a studdering noise at the bottom of third gear before any power is delivered

Just changed spark plugs to one step colder. Issue is still occurring. Again the engine make a loud studdering/thumping noise right after entering third gear under WOT. Ill try to get a video up soon. Its obviously not clutch slippage..idk why I titled the thread that. I thought it was detonation and I know have no idea what it could be. Please help

can I Please have someone else's opinion? This thread has been viewed way too many times for so few replies. Also, ive noticed that the studder is much worse up hill. It is almost not noticeable on flat ground, but under WOT and uphill it is very harsh. Help please

I have the same EXACT problem with my MSP and i have no idea what it is. On top of that my car car nearly stalled in neutral and i hear metallic cracking sounds when i engage my clutch at really low rpms. I think the guy who spoke of the throwout bearing issue is the closest to being correct.
