Two steps forward, one step back...
Noise similar to the noise that came about a few months ago (and was found out to be a loose drivers-side axle-nut) came back with a vengance after replacing the EGR the other day. In no way at all connected, just saying...
So I rotated the tires today and kinda surprised, kinda not, the passenger-side axle-nut had come loose. I impacted those suckers on, but they've both now come loose. So, I impacted it back on and hammered like crazy on that notch (like I did when fixing the other side) so hopefully neither will come loose again.
Removed the side moldings and got most of the adhesive off. Since this is just a "beater," I'm going to let her ride this week and finish removing the adhesive (and any accumulated dirt) next weekend and re-wax. Will take pic's then...
The last time I rotated the tires I removed the rear sway bar because something back there was "clunking" around. I thought I'd re-install it today to see if I could figure it out, well, I took it off at work and after it sat for a few months, I guess someone put it in the dumpster.
Great...
I dunno, I cant seem to tell much handling difference with it on or off, I don't drive this car too aggressively, it can bearly move its own self.
Saw a great idea on some auto-type-show where you could check to see if you have a "miss" by warming the engine and then comparing the temperatures of the exhaust manifold/header. Since we have one of those cool tools here at work, I thought I'd give it a shot. The results? Inconclusive. Looking at the engine, from left to right the temperatures decrease 5-10 degrees per tube. As the car was warming up, the 3rd to the right was substantially (50 degrees) colder than the other 3. So I'm wondering if that one is missing at start-up and then as the car warms up, firing ok...
Dunno, still trying to figure it out, overall though, the car is idling and running much better with the new EGR. Car smokes like a freight train though (at startup), so its only a matter of time before I'll have to pull it off and clean it...
